Legal eagle airgunners

Yes, I'd go talk to an attorney, but make sure he's well versed in local Ohio law, licensed in Ohio, etc.

However, remember that the cop giving you the ticket doesn't care about your attorney's opinion. Regardless of what the lawyer says, If you get the ticket, you have a choice of abiding by the cop's interpretation, or fighting. Fighting costs money because you'll need a good lawyer, and they charge something like $165 plus per hour. Probably cost $50 just to take a phone call. Your next gun goes up in fees in a big hurry.

I deal in risk analysis all day long. The key is to understand your risks, understand what can you do to reduce the risk of the bad thing happening, and if the bad thing happens, what will you do? Have a plan.

Plan what you'll do if the cop shows up with ticket book in hand. Start by being polite, and perhaps reading the ordinance with him or her (not to them, with them, big difference) and discussing where it says you can't shoot on your own property? Then again, he or she can choose to ignore logic and just send you into the legal system and let the lawyers work it out at your expense. It's all a crap shoot. You may win, but at what cost?

Good luck on this one, it's a Sticky Wicket as the Brit's would say.
