You are correct. I have read the list and it is pretty much all NYC and its' suburban areas, and across the river a bit into NJMost of those are related to NYC and the surrounding suburbs. True, some retailers just blacklist all of NY but there's no legal reason why upstate is off limits.

if you are anywhere near a main FedEx ground hub, they usually don't ask any questions, just make sure someone scans it before you leave as they give no receipt when dropping off (at mine anyway), and only accept pre-paid labels. They don't have a storefront style customer service counter at the main hub usually. It is set up for people dropping off multiple packages (by the cartload) but they will take just one or two. The new price hike on long boxes at USPS and now "seasonal" price hikes are making the post office bad news. They have been my go to shipper for 20+ years, not so much anymore. I don't like pulling the stocks (breaking down) rifles at all, because customers can be weird about that, but it saves much $$$ if you do in shipping now...Well put...FedEx is a complete headache. I ship mostly by USPS. It's my understanding that by law they are not allowed to ask you if you are shipping a firearm, or what is in the box. But I do tell them anyway, and provide them an UP TO DATE FFL liscense as to where I am shipping it to. They usually put it on file in case I want to ship a firearm in the future from them.

Ditto - a thread like this pops up about once a month. IMO some people really overthink things. I've never been asked whats in the box, but I do print any and all labels at home and just drop off and respective drop-off location. If ever asked on an air rifle I'll just say it's golf clubs - it's the best approximate size and weight of an airgun box.Interesting stuff but I use PirateShip. C o m and never declare the contents.
I won't ship to restricted zips but everything else in game. No issues ever.
