Lelya 2 experts...

What happened ?

First, no, I do not have any way of measuring pellet speed.

The lead-up. Shot my Lelya a few hundred rounds, off and on since I bought it the beginning of this year. All of a sudden, It got REAL noisy in the breach during the shot. I think some have called it hammer bounce (?) ? It was bad enough, that to shoot it, I needed an ear plug. No change in point of pellet impact at the target. No "apparent" difference in the sound at the barrel. No felt air escaping anywhere near my face.

I pulled it out the other day to change dot sights around to see what I liked best on it. After two magazines full, all of a sudden, it got quiet again, like it was when new. I've now put four more magazines through it since it got quiet, still quiet, still the same apparent sound from the muzzle, and still on target. And yeah, shooting the same pellet the whole time (JSB 18.13gr.)

Anyone have any ideas as to what the loud sound was ? Do I need to dig into it, or to expect that the sound will return, or is it possibly hurting anything ?

Loud at the breach? That self corrected? I guess something was keeping the breach from sealing completely. Some type of debris

I did do a good barrel cleaning not long ago, with no shooting after, until the other day. So the cleaning maybe could have loosened some garbage, and finally cleared itself today.

All of the mechanical bits are tight. I did check some of it when I did the barrel cleaning a few weeks back. All seems well, no rattles in that area. I know the barrel is tight, or at least snug, as I did check that also during the cleaning.

Thanks for the comments.

I just took couple shots from my 22 Lelya2 for the first time and it sure sounds louder than my 177.

Hardly an expert, with ~1100 pellets through my .177, but here are my observations:

The "TINK" from the breech was pretty noticeable after getting the tune I wanted (~900 fps with 10.34 grains). It seemed to dissipate during the second tin, & is all but gone now. Overall shot noise has gone from acceptable but not great to... well, pretty great! Velocity hasn't changed.

Odd that yours appeared after a few hundred shots, then disappeared quickly. Bubblerboy64's suggestion is more plausible than anything else I can think of. In any case, glad it's gone so so your can get back to enjoying the rifle.

Nice work on the stock coating looks good.

Sounds like the breech seal ORing was not properly sealing. What pellets are you shooting. Some pellets feed really tightly and leave shards of shaved lead from the skirt floating around.

Sounds like after cleaning the issue has gone away. I assume you removed the breech to clean the barrel. Perhaps whatever was contaminating the breech ORing dislodged...

Glad you are back running the rifle happily.

J -

See above in large print.

Yep, shot a little (two magazines) today just to check...on things, still doing well.

Mine also put out a light puff of air in or near the breach with the odd sound noted in my first post.

But after the sounds went away, so did the puff of air. Possibly the whole thing was an out of place o-ring that reseated itself, It did not do either the sound or the air when new. But everything is back to "normal" now.

I had plans on shooting it later today, so I can verify that everything is still healthy.

zeravince - check the breach o-ring, make sure it's in place and not cut. Without knowing exactly about my own gun, that would be mi first guess.

Mike

P.S. - See JWilson's picture above. He was typing the same time that I was ! See items #2 and #4.

I emailed Brian at Edgun West about the breach o-rings to see if he has any or knows what size they are. I also have the same issue and do believe that it is the breach o-ring. I also took my breach o-ring out and did some measuring. Not just the o0ring, but also the pellet probe. I ordered 3 different sizes that were the closest to my numbers. I know that in the past I have used slightly larger cross section rings on other breach seals in air guns. with great results. In every case they worked better then the original. I will give the exact o-ring size that works best here in this post once I get my mitts on them.

So I assume there are a lot of problem with breach o-ring in lelya or matador. I have other pcp kalibrgun cricket .177 , that one work like a charm and never have a problem like this . I hope someone can make video how to fix this loud and puff problem. I’m gonna return my lelya 2.0 to the store or swap the unit with the better one. I need an advice from you guys, if I have an option swap the lelya with vulcan, should I go with vulcan? For the model I really like lelya so much , but I’m afraid this problem will come up again after I fix it

Wow. We are talking about orings. IMO EDguns are as reliable as they come. Fix your gun and shoot it.
