Lelya Ping?

Two clicks down on the hammer spring adjustment and I at 864fps with 16gr JSBs. Still shooting tiny groups just larger than the pellet at 25 yards. Unfortunately this didn't do anything to help the ping (honestly didn't expect it to).

Besides the ping, this gun is pretty awesome and seems to be well built. Trigger was easy to get to where I liked it, I really appreciated the detents on the hammer spring adjustment and the cocking is already starting to smooth out it seems.

Make sure your moderator is screwed down tight. Sometimes adding a thicker o-ring to the threaded shroud cap helps as well.

That's actually the first thing I checked and it's nice and tight. I remember it being mentioned in another thread I believe.

864 with 16 grainers is fairly low energy for a Lelya 2.0. Do you know what reg pressure you are at? I tune mine for 97% of peak velocity at a given reg pressure. The Hammer slap is part of the design, but is lowest when reg pressure is as low as you can get it at the energy level you desire. It seems tube resonance decreases when reg is low and requires some HST for create some valve dwell. Higher than needed reg pressure and really low HST seems to result in good efficiency, larger ES and tube resonance.

These are my experiences with mine. I suppose mileage could vary

On my R5M Standard .22 I dropped my reg to 110bar and am still getting a max speed of 940fps with the 18gr. I'd guess you could easily drop the reg pressure to 100bar and get your speed of 860fps with the 16gr. That should drop the ping pretty good. Crazy to believe but my R5 with a reg at 100bar and shooting at 900fps with 44.75gr had much less ping honestly couldn't hear any ping on it.

To test ping i also did the high low exercise in reg pressure with Matador long RM5, I have a reg tester (Huma)

High as in 140 bar and low as in 100 Bar both resulted in higher ES.

The ES at 120 bar is most ideal and delivers ES of 4m/s over strings of 20 shots with unweighed JSB pellets.

0.22 with 16gn at 265m/s = 36J is enough for my approx 40 meter shooting.

I found no significant difference in ping and decided to leave it at this and just wear an earplug ;-)

I only turned down the hammer spring adjustment 2 clicks to drop from 850ish with 18s to 860ish with 16s. I'm probably well within the normal operating range of the gun (correct me if I'm wrong) and a string of 10 shots over the chrony returned an ES of 13fps. Factory settings returned a spread of 17fps so I'm running normal there. Reg pressure is whatever it left the factory at since I haven't touched it.

I may try that playing with the reg if all else fails. I probably could drop the reg a bit but I haven't really run the gun through its paces to get a baseline yet. The gun seems to flow air pretty well seeing how many shots I get on a fill.

So in Dairyboy’s example above he is getting a max of 940 at 110 BAR. I personally would tune for 97% or 912 at that reg pressure. The 18s really like 880-910 so I bet that tune is pretty sweet shooting.

I was not suggesting the gun was adjusted outside of a normal range at all. 120-125 Bar is a great reg pressure for someone who likes to shoot many different types of ammo at various weights. It is a great factory setting because it is very versatile. If you select 1 projectile you can tune the gun to be even sweeter. That’s all.

Ah I see. Typically I'll tune for max velocity and then turn it down a bit but that's a bit in the future for this gun. Especially with all the stay at home orders, I'm trying to conserve my air tanks haha and yep I intend to really only use 16s in this one.
