EDgun Leshiy 2 custom grip

I couldn't find a nice wooden grip for my leshiy 2, and I couldn't justify spending $200 and waiting for the one i did find, when I'm a woodworker myself, so I decided to make one out of scraps I had laying around. Walnut/ cherry/ purple heart.

I used the bandsaw to cut the basic shape but everything from there on out has been by hand, wood rasp and sandpaper.

Still a work in progress. I'll post more pictures when it's finished. ✌️

I don't see the bolt hole. I suppose that can wait until you're almost done. Looks good!
I just haven't drilled it yet. That's the easy part.
This is the first grip I've ever made. I didn't want to waste time drilling a hole in case I messed up the shaping.
Thanks!
The next one I make I'm going to try to incorporate the stock "clip" that holds the spare battery and allen keys into a mortise in the grip. I'll have to make the grip a bit fatter to do it though in order to maintain structural integrity, so it might not be feasible due to being uncomfortable.... we'll see.🤷‍♂️

I wonder if a stiffer material would work. Do you have access to densified plywoods? They're functionally pretty similar to aluminum, but you can work them with wood tools.

I'm thinking of material like panzerholz or pakkawood. But maybe you could use micarta, or something like that.
