Tuning Leshiy airleak troubleshooting

Hey guys,

I got my first Leshiy in .25 and love it. It's the classic model and I installed a 12 ft pound Huma reg to keep this quieter for backyard pests..

It has the electronic EDMU gauge and I noticed the bar pressure dropped slowly overnight from around 220 to 180s and now around 148....

I made sure to close the de-gas screw.... any ideas where the leake could be coming from and how to stop it?

Thnaks

Thanks, JWilson. I think I'm gonna have to do that. I tried closing the de-gas bleed screw as tightly as I could and would be surprised if it was leaking there (although it totally could be). I also wonder if it's where the fill port goes in. I'll do some testing....

Is there a way to "reseal" or fix any of these leaks other than tightening everything even tighter?

Do not over tighten the bleed screw.

I've had a few leaks in my Leshiy. One was from the regulator. I can't remember which O-ring but I went ahead & replaced all of the easy to get to one's.

Pretty sure that leak was from the standard Huma, not the sub-12. My vague memory is that the O-ring setup is different between the two. I'll look at some pictures & and see if I can remember.

I would check the bleed valve first and, for low-pressure guns, the barrel second.

Hold the muzzle into a small tray of soapy water with the breech sealed. If bubbles come out of the muzzle ya're looking at a valve leak. Sometimes happens in guns where the air pressure on the valve is so light that the poppet does not seal anymore. Tricky situation with solutions (e.g. increasing the valve spring preload), but I am not familiar enough with the Leshiy to help. If this were to be your diagnosis you may wanna get in touch with Motorhead (aka "The Master"). 🐦

Found the leak yet?

I do not have a leshiy but I use leak detector from home depot or I dunk any suspicious leaky part in water.

I know the whole dunk sounds weird or uncomportable but throughly dried up the part(s) will not be harmed and the dunk will show where the leak is. I have done it many times and not rust part yet found.

Hope you found the fix already.

Thanks! Not yet and I'll try the dunk I thing if I cant find it soon. I put some gun tape on the tube and was trying to keep it dry but dont think it will work lol. Hope you're well.

When you installed the reg, you used silicone grease, right? Just a little

remove the air gauge, called manometer, and ensure that there is a o ring in the “well”. You will see what I am talking abut once you unscrew it, just loosen the carabiner and slide forward and then you can get wrench on the gauge. The o ring should have a small, just a light coating of grease also.

Now, when replacing the EDMU, the dang gum things won’t line up. You need to pop the cover, and reposition the electronics for the orientation. See Brian vid on You tube. The one on that gun doesn’t have the hole to blow air, it looks like it may use a small pry tool, but google it. That gauge is from a later serial number gun than the one you have. (Mine, I never used this gauge) I tested it and it didn’t leak.

I think the o ring is a 105 or 108, it must be a metric designation of some sort. Go to the Huma site, look at the rebuild kit, and get the right one or use the link above, but the above link has a different sizing, so I am not sure what is means without googling it.

Thank you!!! I'm going to try all this again..I didnt do the silicone grease and check the o rings.

It also stopped leaking around 108 bar...

pull it apart again and check all the o-rings, if all seem fine lube them with silicone grease or silicone oil, it is obvious that it's leaking from something you removed to do the regulator, so if you check the o-rings for burrs cuts or even scratches on the o-ring and the sealing surface replace as needed, get yourself an O-ring kit, just as backup when needed,

Note: Do NOT use metal tools to remove O-rings, metal tools can scratch sealing surfaces, use plastic tool, toothpick or your finger nail.

I'm thinking that dunking the EDMU would be a bad idea. Not sure how waterproof the EDMU internals are..but as a general rule circuit boards tend to not like water.

If you adjusted the EDMU so it looks "straight", it could be you loosened or over-tightened the o-ring were the gauge is screwed into the air tube.

Check for a leak where the air tube screws to the folding stock. If there are o-rings that are leaking internally, you'll see bubbles when you wipe that area with soapy water. That will narrow down your search.
