EDgun Leshiy classic power

hi folks,

I'm kind of intrigued by the Leshiy classic, so maybe I'd jump on the occasion if I find a pre-owned one. However it's difficult to find information about the power at which a 250mm or a 350mm can reasonably shoot? I mean: what power can a classic develop when tuned for power, without sacrificing accuracy? I'm not looking for bragging rights nor maximum power, but I generally prefer to shoot my pellets rather fast.

At one time I had a 350mm .30 barrel for my Leshiy Classic and I believe I was able to tune it up close to 70fpe. It's been a while on that one though.

Something to keep in mind. The hinge on the Classic is held in place by a pin with a pretty strong spring so it is hard to crack open when in use. However, when you tune the Classic for higher power the shot cycle puts a lot of force on the pin holding the hinge closed and you can get some 'snap' when you shot which causes the shots to pull left a bit in the direction the hinge opens. It is manageable with practice if you know it's there.

I can only speak about the .22. But at that setting the gun is miserable to shoot. If you don’t believe me, turn it down to 820fps. Completely different gun.
I was just stating the max power at for each barrel length, I believe you. 18gr going past 870fps was already pretty harsh. The .25 cal shooting 34gr at 854 you only got about 9 good shots, but those 9 shots were damn good.

@woogie_man what he said. Your best bet if you want the most power for shooting pellets, is to buy an alfa barrel either from Russia or from airgunheaven which they sell in a 450mm length or 600mm. And they come in a 1:14.6" twist or a 1:15.5 you would also need to get shroud extensions and the inner silver portion I forget the name of the part.

thanks all for your information! Looks pretty decent indeed. Most reports I read are around 20fpe which is a bit below my preference. But what I read above seems to be just perfect. I don't need a powerhouse (I have other guns for that), but I like some oomph when shooting without sacrificing accuracy.

I think you can go higher than 20 FPE in .25/350mm, but likely still well below what you'd consider fast.

My state has a weird law about hunting with airguns, saying that they must be "rated" to shoot 1000 FPS. I tried Polymags in both .177 & .22. I never did get the .22 version up to 1000 FPS. I think it would have been doable but I stopped well short as in 250mm form, that became one angry little goblin. I know I tried 350mm but quickly decided I wasn't willing to pack the extra length.

Here’s my .25 at 25 yards off of a wobbly table

Factory shroud insert or STO or something else? Tuned to the knee or is it a short dwell tune?

My dog is getting too old to keep the Marmot away at our cabin so I plan to set up one of my Classics in .25 for close range use.
All stock tuned about 5% below max speed . I leave it alone even when changing calibers and barrels it just shoots well in this tune no matter what. it has a huma set at 110

I love mine, in spite of the flaws and limitations. It’s currently in fast twist Alfa .177 450mm mode. I played around enough to figure out that the sideways kick is caused in large part by the very stiff valve spring, which is templated on the 250 barrel which needs very short dwell. Popping in a lighter spring for 350mm and longer barrel allows for the use of less hammer and generates longer dwell, reducing the anger in the shot cycle. Adding a peek poppet gives further icing on that cake.

I use the spring from Tim Hills pistol hammer kit:
