Let's play a game - What is your 'smallest' actually effective moderator?

The stock moderator on a Stormrider is very good. That device is 115mm x 23mm internal. There is a 30mm attachement on the end which increases total length when removed from the rifle to 145mm. Outside diameter is 25mm. There are 6 stripper baffles with 6.5mm ports in them and one expansion chamber that is about 50mm x 23mm.

These things also are strongly influenced by the rifle and it's tune.

A friend and I just did a moderator testing session on our Leshiy 2 setups. We had a .22 350mm, a .25 350mm barrel, and a .30 500mm setup. We tested almost all offerings from Donny as well as a huggett snipe, and a sto sarissa. The Donny tatsu and tanto were shockingly quiet on all 3 setups to the point they actually did a better job than the ronin and sumo we tested. Now this wouldn’t be the case for all airguns, but a Leshiy 2 is fairly loud as is, and to make all 3 setups backyard friendly with a tatsu or tanto is pretty remarkable!

1” dia X 6” = .25cal by Jason Hammond
My vote goes to the Huggett Atom in .22. If you have a shrouded gun that still has some 'pop' to it, the Atom will take thing thing down to near hammer spring silent.

Runner up goes to the DonnyFL Tatsu - very effective can on my .22 Vet Shorty.

I’ve tried moderators from Huggett, weirauch, Donny, 0db. The huggett Belita and Atom are the quietest. Both are small. A person would not think this was possible just looking at them side by side with the others The Atom is tiny. To give you an idea of it’s size, it’s the same diameter as the Taipan Vet shroud and you wouldn’t know it was one there by just glancing at it. The Huggett Belita is slightly larger.

Atom. 3.5” long, 2.5 oz, 1.22” D
Belita 4.7” long, 3.4 oz, 1.22” D
The Belita is noticeably quieter than a Donny Ronin, on a
Taipan Vet .25
If you don’t want/like a soup can at the end of your barrel either one of these is the one to get.

To me it really depends on the tune of your rifle that matches the moderator. I have a tatsu on a RTI compact that has a 177 barrel and the 25 barrel.. in 177 shooting 10.3 pellets at 890 is very quiet... install the 25 cal pushing 25.4gr pellets in the mid 800's it makes a bit more noise...still calms the bark though.. tanto on a RTI compact tuned to shoot 16gr pellets at 900 its pretty silent..tune it to shoot 18gr pellets around 880 it's got a bit more noise.. again still calms its bark... Donnie FX on a RTI full size in 22 shooting 25.4gr at 940 works real well with its tune.. crank it up to 1000-1040 and it over powers the mod badly... this is all by my ear and my be very different to someone else.

I use one section of a Huma-Air MOD30 on my Ataman AP-16, it's just shy of 2" long, yet it does an amazing job of suppressing the bark from that pistol. The AP-16 is tuned to shoot 14.3 grain pellets at 860FPS, so it does a realy good job with as small as it is!
