The Crosman 2240/2250/2260 are customizable to the extreme. Limited only by your imagination and wallet. A few folks may give you a rash about dropping coin on 2240. And they're right, it's an indefensible argument but such are all hobbies. =)
So here are a couple of 2240/2250 platforms that morphed into 2260 carbines. fantastic and fun shooters. I prefer red dots as most of my shooting is out to about 35 yards (and maybe 50 yards from time-to time). First one started out as as 2250 back in 1999. Converted to HPA a few years ago with a Benjamin/Sheridan 2260 tube from MagnumAirpower. The 14.6 Crosman barrel is an absolute tack driver (I don't think they make them like this anymore).
-Steel breech. -discovery spring.
-Extended probe.
-MagnumAirPower deadblow hammer.
Cothram Machine spring aduster.
-Discovery Valve.
-HUMA (90bar)
-MagnumAirPower fill port/air guage.
-6.5" TKO
-P-Rod trigger assembly.
I'm getting about 42 shots at 710 fps with 15.9s and same count for 14.3s at 750 fps.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Second, looking almost identical, is a 1760. Ordered earlier this year as a Crosman Custom Shop 2400KT with the 14.6 Lothar barrel.
-MountainAirCustom 2260 tube.
-Challenger hammer adjuster.
-Extended Probe
-Stock 2240 spring
-MagnumAirPower dead blow hammer
-Discovery Valve
-HUMA (90 bar)
-Hillairgun Hi-cap gauge port (tapped about 3-inches from fill port).
-5" TKO
-P-Rod trigger group.
Getting 50+ shots at 795 fps with 7.9s and 50+ at 775 fps with 8.4s.
I make no claim to be an expert. I'm more like an enthusiastic novice on the 2240. From my perspective the biggest reason to mod a 2240 is the simple joy of "tinkering". I enjoy researching, impulse buying, and then modifying "almost" as much as shooting. =)
The 2240 is one of the best after-market supported platforms out there. Post-up pics and details as you build.
