These are five-shot groups at 25 yards.
This is a ten-shot group at 25 yards-
And this is a five-shot group at FIFTY yards! The aiming spot is about 1/4" diameter, and the group measures .34" center-to-center.

So, not ever having shot in a competition.... — for posting those 25y groups — are there any rules, as in "off-handed shots only" —
or off-handed with a somehow "sanctioned hold" —
or can we submit groups shot with a rested pistol?

I’m in the same boat as you having never shot in a competition. Still getting the hang of shooting pistols. My group was shot using a chrono as a rest. No rules here, just 25 yds and a pistol (iron, red dot, scope doesn’t matter)

Just FWIW, I don't consider this thread to be a competition. An opportunity to BRAG, yes; a competition, no.
Not knowing if JungleShooter was asking about this thread or actual air pistol competitions, I'll answer his questions as regards shooting competitions. NRA air pistol silhouette competitions are all shot from offhand. AAFTA air pistol field target competition is done almost completely from sitting positions as described in the AAFTA rulebook (at aafta.org), with most FT competitions also including a few offhand shots (typically no more than 10% of the shots in any given match).
As I am often asked if a phenomenal group in photos I post was shot offhand (like those in my post above), my usual reply is "NO. I'm a great shot; not superhuman!" Very few offhand groups (by anyone) are very "photogenic". Matter of fact, from what I deduce from the airgun forum(s), very few airgunners ever shoot more than a few offhand shots ever so often, before taking refuge on the shooting bench!
Lastly, don't let these phenomenal groups fool you. It's all due to the exotic air pistols... In reality the shooter really sucks!

thanks for your brutal honesty, refreshing, really. Thank YOU!
I explain: After cruising the forums for a couple of years I have come away with a distinct perception of my shooting ability... — expressed in a 5-letter word, beginning and ending with the letter s — and a ck chucked in there somewhere....
Struggling to consistently produce 3 moa groups at 100 yards and 2 moa groups at 50y, with China guns.... — well, it seemed like I was the only guy that struggled with that, and everybody else seemed to be struggling with 1 moa groups at 100y....
Anyhow, thanks for being transparent about the rarity of off-hand shots, for being honest about the importance of the equipment, and for being wildly humble (we men don't particularly like that word, but it's a great quality, especially if you have achievements to be proud of).
It's people like that who make these forums so enjoyable. And their worth can't be measured in green accuracy dots.

Thanks Dave! I love this pistol! My Alecto is a .22 using 3 pumps at 25 yards. I usually spend a lot of time with señorita Huben but the Alecto has been competing for my time. While not as fun as the Huben, it’s a different type of joy I get shooting the Alecto. The target style grip fits my hand like a glove, the trigger is insanely adjustable, low recoil, and a barrel that rivals LW.
I noticed you took off the adjustable hand rest on your grip. Was it not comfortable? I feel it makes me shoot more accurately. Also, where did you get the silencer for it? While waiting for an adapter to come in the mail, I printed a silencer for it on my 3d printer but it doesn’t work that well at suppressing.

Thanks Gasman! You’ve set the bar with your groups though! I broke my chrono but they state on 3 pumps it gets 500 FPS. They test with 14.6 grain so it should be slightly more with the 14.3 CHP

Awesome! I thought that silencer was a slip on.
I found the UK site that sells the barrels but they’re down due to the quarantine. As soon as they’re running I’m ordering a .177 and .20. The .20 should be the best of both worlds.
I gotta try to shoot on the bags but right now I’m having so much fun shooting whichever way lol If this gun was around when I was a boy I don’t think I would’ve gotten into any sports or hobbies. Everyday after school would be spent with the Alecto popping cans and squirrels

Speaking of pellets... just curious airngasman do you sort pellets? Also are you using exotic pellets as well? I know your guns are fantastic and exotic. I’ve always wanted a Tau B.

I used to sort pellets only for State and National Championship field-target competitions; but since I'm no longer shooting FT, I no longer sort pellets. I've shot JSBs almost exclusively since they came out.
