Let's see your hand cannons

That's nothing less than PHENOMENAL performance! Congratulations; and appreciate what you've got there.(y)
Yes A.Gasman, I am very satisfied with this custom Ranchero. The FX factory and mr Jota made this spechial for me, and was a long going project. The gun is silent, powerfull, very accurate, and light. Goes in a backpack, so no problems there. Only downside to mention is that the cylinder is fixed. Can`t bring some extra cylinders as for my other Rancheroes.
But ok , aprox 23 shots on the regulator, full power/27 fpe, not bad in my book.

That is a beautiful gun. Very cool to have such a one-off of such precision.

10 shots ~60fpe at 45 yards, 2800psi down to 1300psi

It is morphing into a carbine...

And so continues the metomorphasis.

Of course as it gets bigger it gets easier to shoot.
These little 86gr HP slugs make a good substitute for pellets. GT Bullets advertises them as 88gr 380acp bullets.

10 shots of the 86gr HP's at 45 yards. Velocity just over 600fps.

There are various bottle configurations....... .25, .30, and .357 versions... Energy levels and shot counts span a very broad range from ~40fpe-150fpe with the 16" barrel and valve returned to the configuration Don designed it to run.

I think the last one above is one of my favorite. If it were possible to magazine feed in .357 I would maybe go as far as to leave it here and actually FINISH the gun...

Holy Mackerel ! ( I couldn’t help myself )
That’s a lot of FPE.
Those are some bad ass numbers. Love your morphing carbine !

Thanks for the kind words.

Big bore, big ports, slow moving projectile= relatively high energy at relatively low air consumption. Without Don C's valve this would all be a lot more difficult to achieve for myself and those of us who lack the knowledge/skills/machine tools to "roll our own" complex parts.

I had almost forgotten about this particular combination of Legos.... This is one of about a half dozen different pistol/carbine configurations this kit can be configured for. Not pictured are the 12" and 16" barrels, tube extension, AR buffer tube adapter/stock and a few other odds and ends.

This one has no real use other than being loud, obnoxious, and giving reactive targets a pretty good thump.

Gen 1 Mrod /Brod tube
B&A breech
Prod trigger assembly with raised sear,
Cothran valve,
9" TJ's 1:26 .357 barrel.

Does 3 shots with JSB 81gr 680fps, 615fps, 580fps

Tell us about yours?
Ever think of running a tether to a tank in a backpack to increase your range time? Where did you get the kit?

Keep em coming...some of yall are cheating with those powder burners, lol. beautiful guns though!

Here is another configuration of the gun I started the thread with. It becomes a bit more useful in this configuration.

I used learnings from the GTA community's Simplified Balanced Valve development to modify a stem/poppet for my Cothran that allows for it to be tuned via hammer spring tension and produce a bell curve. Without bogging this thread down with those details, the foundation of this modified stem is 3 things. 1) Change the seal to delrin which is more resilient than the soft nylon Don designed the valve to use. 2) remove the rod from the stem, this causes the valve to close violently, hence changing the sealing material to delrin. 3) enlarging the stem vent. It's a bit more complex than that, but that is the general idea.

This results in a very miserly valve, yielding a very flat shot string that can be moved up or down in energy by dialing in/out HST.

On a 2800psi fill, which is all I have in my tanks right now, it will get 8 shots within 17fps of each other.... Not many unreg'd big bore PCP's will shoot that flat across 1500psi pressure range

12" barrel with a bored out Koi. it is extremely quiet for a 60fpe hand cannon
Is this a custom made gun? I've been looking for an air pistol to use on my local range's steel targets, this thing looks incredible

Its crazy that major manufacturers devote tons of resources to produce their airguns and we still get hobbyists producing things ever better! The guy sounds like the John Britten of the airgun world

And one can personalize the heck out of it.

Custom Crossmans shooting several weight classes above.

They are some cool pistol / carbines / rifles

My .22 custom Falcon FN-12, rescued from the scrap-heap after the seller failed to package it adequately enough to prevent package handler APES from almost destroying it. They did destroy the repeating function when the action blew out the end of the foam-lined hard-case when an APE dropped it off the back of a truck onto pavement. I couldn't save the repeating function, but at least she still survives as a single-shot.

Shoots 3/4" - 1" average five-shot groups at 50 yards with 18.1 JSBs at 700 FPS.

I also refinished the stock into a work of soft-luster ART.
