Light pitting? Help restoring?

Good morning does anyone have experience with restoring light rust pitting on their guns? I would like to shine my diana p5 magnum up as much as I can. Ive tried some 3in1 oil on a rag and it helped a tiny bit but was wondering if anyone has had experience getting good results on something like this? Ideally I'd like to bring it back to former glory but realize that might not be fully possible. Are there any specific products or techniques anyone has had success with? Dont want to remove the rws writing or anything. Thanks for any tips.

yep.. 0000 steel wool and rub with it gently with oil .. it will tend to lighten blueing, so go slow and kindof polish over the whole area .. dont rub in one spot so it comes out evenly .. some imperfections may not come all the way out, so for me its hard to stop before getting the finish too light .. just keep an eye on it ..

Agreed on the 0000 steel wool and oil. It’s super fine and will not produce any visible scratches, but conforms enough to surface irregularities to dip into the tiny pits and engraved markings to remove rust from there.

Then degrease thoroughly and go through a few applications of cold blue like Van’s Instant Blue or Brownell’s Oxpho Blue until the area is back to a nice dark finish. And lastly of course apply some sort of oil to the surface to help preserve the finish. Nearly any oil imaginable will do fine. Keeping it applied is what matters most.
