Lil Foot Didn't Make It...

Sorry to say, the Lil Foot does not have magic powers. I really thought it did. He made it about 4 months, which is 1 month longer than the NOMAD 2.

That's why I have a backup compressor (NIB Yong Heng) ...that should get me through the next 60 days hopefully.

Was I supposed to lube something? There was no oil port. The lil foot started blowing the 35 amp fuse one after another when it hit about 200 bar. Then I put a 40 amp fuse in it today and it kept running but about 1 minute in it started makeing terrible noises from the engine: like it was breaking apart inside. I'm pretty sure it's done.

It seems to me that all of high pressure compressors that are less than about $3000 seem to fail relatively quickly. I've been watching the market since they first began appearing several years back. I was hoping that the technology would improve and we'd get a great reliable thousand dollar compressor for my PCP rifles. It hasn't happened yet. My current 88CF tank reaches the end of it's 15 year life this coming October. I'll either buy a new tank and keep making trips to the paintball store for fills or invest in a high end compressor for $3500+ dollars. I have a little time to think about it.

The options really didn’t get better. All these compressors are all the same, and just put their badge on the front. The manufacturer that makes the gx compressors seems to make most of the direct to gun 12volt compressor options out there. Donny said they requested some heavier duty parts in it, but it doesn’t make it a bulletproof compressor. At the end of the day, it’s still another cheap Chinese compressor.

Nate - good to hear a real update. Sorry it let out its magic on you, but like Andrew says - they're really all the same internals. A few stainless fitting don't improve the internal of the pump system itself. That's what seems to go on all of these in short order. If you kept track, I'd be curious if you know how many hours you got out of it. I use the 50 hours I got out of my CS3 as a benchmark, seems to be a middle to high average on these pumps before the self destruct.

Unfortunately you get what you pay for. No reason to not just get the cheapest ones until you are ready for a 'pro' model. Seems to me the $700-$1500 build in lots more features but no further longevity in use.

I had the Altaros booster and, yes, I found it very reliable. The problem with it is that it is driven by air, and it really needs a lot. In order to just run it slowly (talking 3-4 hours fill of a 9L tank from 3000 to 4500 psi) you need to be able to push 4-5CFM @ at least 90psi. That's a huge duty cycle for even a 10gal standard compressor.

I told my wife last night that at the price some folks are paying for compressors a nitrogen bottle would seem to make more sense. Even more so if you can use an altoros to boost it to 4500psi in your carbon tank when the nitrogen falls below your required level.

Im a man of humble needs, so my Shoebox F10 is doing fine. Still has under 20 hours runtime.

You just need to shoot more, LOL..... In truth I was sorry to see the F10 go. It was my first compressor and I ran it off a little 1 gal CAT compressor with no issues. I got well over 400 hours of runtime on it before I couldn't repair it any longer. My downfall was not having any air drying between the CAT and the F10 so eventually moisture damage got to some of the key parts. It's really a shame that all these cheap a** compressors pushed them out of business because all we do now is complain about the Chinese crap that has taken over the market.

I've become an Alkin fan as of late and I already have 6 hours on mine since getting it 2 months ago. Considering how fast they fill I would guess that makes me a heavy user. In the past 6+ years I know I've spent well over Alkin money on compressors that haven't lasted so future predictions on cost made it a wise choice for me. I realize others don't have that level of air use so Alkin money doesn't make sense - for me it did.

The airgun industry really needs a $1500 range compressor that will run off standard US 110/120VAC 15A circuits and last a long time without major hassles, external cooling systems, secondary after market drying systems, etc.

What you described is made in China, low labor cost and low materials cost and low reliability. If I was pumping hours a day I most definitely would not buy anything from China. Not everyone can plunk down $3.5k+ for a compressor. Especially after dumping that amount into an airgun. :ROFLMAO:

My thoery on PCP compressors: The technology does not exist in 2023 to produce a PCP compressor for under $1000...but companies still do it.

If you pump your gun up 10 times a year, like most people, the companies get away with it. But try it 10 times a month, and it's over pretty fast.

…accept one time when I heard you mention in a review that this was a "Rich mans sport" (or something to that effect). FACTS!

And a new batch of $600 zero maintenance units coming from sh*t show will hit the streets soon. Backed by the high profile industry names...as if to imply this time it's better.

There is even guy telling you "this one uses bearings" 

In the words of WC Fields, "theres a sucker born every minute..you just came along at the right time".

Longevity comes at a price. 100% of these so called maintenance free units have zero quality cotrol at all levels of the process.

Eyes wide open, I bought a Tuxing 032 and a bunch of spares. It will fail the more I use it the closer to death.

BTW- I've been using the Tuxing 0032 for just over a year now, filling (3) 45min. SCBA bottles (all USED from eBay) when I go for my fill ups. Then using the SCBAs for actual gun fills. The Tuxing has been quite reliable for a $1000 purchase. (Knock on wood). I highly recommend it to anyone who has the urge to drop $300 - $400 on the "Shoebox" solutions. JUST DON'T DO IT! (SAVE UP). I've paid for 2 of those $300 jobs and suffered your same fate. JUST DON'T DO IT! The investment to the better compressor and 1 or 2 USED SCBAs bottles is a much better investment in the long run if this is lifetime interest to you, which air guns have always been since I was 14... But, now we get the good stuff! LOL.

Thought that compressor had a small port in the bottom you were supposed to add silicone oil too?? Not sure that would have really mattered. These compressors are like a dell vs gateway computer. Well those computers actually have a slight bit of quality these compressors don’t. Anyway the dell and gateway are the same thing with a different case covering them. That’s basically what these POS China pumps are. One in the same and all guaranteed to break. I will continue to pay 10 bucks to fill an scba or a hand pump.

Man.....for someone who's trying to get into this hobby.....the whole compressor thing is my main road block right now. No use in getting the rifles , tanks or anything else , unless I can find an affordable compressor to even fill the damn things!

When it comes time , I wouldn't mind spending the $1500.00 on a well made , durable compressor. I'm not buying cheap / buy twice the shoe box way , as it's just a waste of money. Been looking at the Air Venturi and some Omega models......but dang , the people who produce products for this hobby , sure are proud of what they make , and sure have no problem selling said product at an extremely high price.

BTW.....I'm into some other high dollar sports / hobbies , but this one? You pay a lot for what you get.

The problem is $1500 compressors aren't all that great either. To get a trouble free compressor you're looking at $4k+ for Alkin.
