Links to care and maintenace of a springer

I owned a HW35 (4.5mm) since the early 1980s when I was stationed in Germany. The rifle been a safe queen since I returned to the States and comes out only occasionally to practice off hand shooting... I also recently won a RWS 54 (.177 cal) rifle at auction and want to get into airgun shooting. Will be trying Field Target matches at my local gun club this year.

Looking to learn more on what to do to maintain that gun. Periodic servicing? What not to do... read somewhere not to dry fire spring guns. What cleaning gear I should start buying? What not to buy. What from my center fire and rimfire support gear I can use to service my airguns

Any sources for manuals? I still have the test target and a two page pamphlet that came with my HW35. Not much info and it is all in German. Nothing on the AirKing.

New guy to this game. Appreciate your validated experience.

General rules:
Oil metal on metal parts(hinges)
Check screw(s) are tight
Uhhh...
When I store mine; I put a drop of oil down the barrel
Great thing about springers; not alot of maintenance.
As far as centerfire stuff that works both ways; I've used my rem oil, cleaning rods, cleaning patches, gun blu,...quite a bit really

No wet drops in barrel.. run a swab with a rod if you must. Lead doesn’t accumulate like copper in air rifles. I rarely clean my barrels once broken in. Oil will get gummy and eventually diesel.. don’t be afraid of a brass wire either. The myth it will damage the barrel is bunk. Brass is much softer than the steel they use. I’ve done it for years with rusted barrels and brought them right back.. once you season the barrel with a tin of pellets you should be good to go.. that being said if you’re shooting cheap Crossman pellets they can leave residue in a barrel. it’s the antimony they use in their lead.
