FX Lock this thread please- Discussed with Fredrik, there is no evidence of POI shift in FX barrel liner system

Do you follow any of the major long distance competitions, such as EBR and RMAC?
If so, did you happen to notice which brand consistanly ranks in the top 10, year, after year, after year?
To win a competition a gun has to be very accurate. But it only needs to maintain its POI for a card or for a practice session. Nobody here is saying they aren’t dead accurate guns.

The vehicles that compete in the DAKAR race are not the same that I can buy from a dealer.

The guns used by sponsored shooters at high level competitions are definitely not the same that I buy from an airgun shop.

So, for the average person those high level competitions have zero significance of how my over the counter airgun will perform.

Sorry, your point is irrelevant to the average person buying an airgun from the average airgun retailer.

Unless you want to send me a bunch of barrels from a good batch so I can test them and pick the best one.

Give me a gun for a day riding around in my truck and shooting how I do and I can tell you which guns will have POI shift and which ones won't. It's different when people use a gun as a "range queen" and goes in and out of a case onto a bench and thats it. Mine get very roughly handled, moved by the barrels, bounce around in my truck on dirt roads and fields, most would probably be shocked. But I use my guns as a tool. I personally won't own an FX as I've heard others talk about POI shifts and have had people I would consider friends that I trust PM about their issues with that cause if they posted on here publicly about that, they would get flamed by the FX fanboys. I dealt with POI shifts with Mrods back when I first got into airguns. It drove me nuts and I vowed never again would I deal with a gun that had POI shifts from barrels being bumped.

Yep..... and again i will sound like a broken record...

But!!

The FX M3 can be a phenomenally accurate gun .....BUT !!! out of the box in STD form it has huge POI issues , anyone saying this isn't so is in pure denial mode !!

Wouldn't that make an interesting event at one of the big benchrest competitions.
Start of by tossing your gun behind the seat of a 4WD and do a 5 mile offroad coarse ending at your shooting bench. You have 30 seconds to get out of the truck with your gun and start shooting at 50 yards. Hop back in the truck and make another lap while the 75 yard cards are set and go again.

Scored the same as normal benchrest, plus points for your ofroad coarse times.

I would go just to watch that one.

Why “lock the thread” request?

Offensiveness. Might hurt some feelies.

Let the truth be what it is.
The elephant in the room has farted and the pretending is obtuse, also pooped on the floor, smeared it, then thrown it all around with its trunk, caused the onlookers to plug their ears from the voluminous trumpeting, but NOPE the obvious negatives, simply smells like flowers, are unseen, and unheard. Elephants have some positive attributes though, they're powerful, the males have two trunks/plenums 😁;), and can be dressed up with fancy garments.
The conspiracy theorists however, smelled, saw, heard, and would prefer not to "take that ride" or "go close again".

FX barrels, post #21, just my quick notes ... so far today this is a third thread winding about a same...

Logically agreeable views. But at the same time as I have great respect for Fredrik and FX, I would request you to use respectable words.

We cannot deny the unprecedented contribution of Fredrik to this hobby.

FX has shown the best after sale support even in my country where there is no official distributor.

I can't think of any other manufacturer doing this.

Bhaur
Well about official distributor, in Indonesia we have one... And still the qc of fx air gun is bad.. Why? Because i'm experiencing myself when i order 177 heavy liner that in the package say include barrel, cf tube and cf sleeve. When i check the barrel there is non cf sleeve in it... And they send 3 batches to Indonesia with that Mistake... Imagine 3 batches! When i emailed them, they just say sorry and shipped it right away... And i get it 3 months later... $393 i have spent to order in Indonesia..Good qc FX!!

only the panthera comes with a cf sleeve from the factory. and they didnt release individual barrel kits. for the .177 you get pellet liners in 500,600 and 700mm and you have to buy extra CF sleeve or extra CF barrel tensioner(only for the fx impact)

Please read my post again, i ordered 177 fx Slug tensioner Kit for my m3 and the packages include the cf sleeve...

I have had zero POI shifts with my .177 M3.

I clean the barrel after each session at the range. I use an Otis .177 cable inserted at the muzzle. At the breech end I use a pair of lab tweezers to pull a WD40 soaked patch into the brass loop and then pull the patch through the bore and out through the muzzle. I continue this process with a new WD40 soaked patch until the patch remains clean.

The gun is then stored with the barrel wet.

At the beginning of the next session I repeat the same process with dry patches until no WD40 residual is present on the patch. I then air fire the rifle 4 times to clear WD40 from the air supply line to the pellet.

I then shoot two foulers and 3 sighters to ensure my POI equals my POA, which it has for the last 27 sessions.

I have never removed the barrel or shroud on this rifle and this is my third year of ownership.
Hi Troy,
Can you share how you clean the barrel? So you put patch soaked it with wd 40 and snug it to the dual port (brass thing). Is it ok wd 40 contact with the O-ring breech?

Regards,
Robinson

Good day!

I remove the moderator. Cock the M3. Set the safety. Insert an Otis cleaning cable from the muzzle end. At the breech end I use a set of tweezers to pull a WD40 soaked patch through the eyelet. Then I pull the patch from breech to muzzle. Repeat with WD40 soaked patches until clean.

I leave the bore wet until the next time I shoot. Then I repeat the above process with dry patches until the bore is dry before I shoot.

WD40 does not seem to affect the breach O-ring. The O-ring in my .177 M3 is three years old and does not leak air.

A method I employ when trying to determine if barrel position/movement might be the physical cause of a POI shift is mounting a laser on the barrel then adjusting the laser dot so that it superimposes the crosshairs of the scope, then I torque, twist, bump, carress (🙄), or even stare hard at the barrel and see if the position of the dot changes.😉
exactly what i do
