Hi I'm hoping for suggestions and direction. I've got several PCP guns and well my normal range is 30 yards pistol and 50 yards rifle.. I want to stretch it out as far as possible.. my American tactical liberty nova 22 is good for 3" at 120 with open sights..160 it's everywhere and I know it is not me because I got out my golden boy and hit just fine and I actually backed up to 1/4 mile and did well..
that said I prefer Airguns for the less noise.
I need to get another airgun for this endeavor and well budget is small on disability.
so I want to start with 22 caliber and be able to easily adjust the power so I can plink at 100- with cheap pellets and then easily turn it up for jsb beasts or hopefully 40 grain slugs.. yes I know that 308 and 25 is better but for now I want to stay with 22.
now I'm not even punching paper, metal targets so I can easily hear the hits.
so I am considering a Seneca eagle claw, I do love cowboy guns.. and it's got the power wheel.. but I am not sure if it is up to the task..I also prefer magazine fed.
I'm more inclined to the airforce Condor 22. wish it had a magazine...I prefer the long barrel but I don't like noise, hence airguns instead of the 22lr golden boy so possibly a Condor SS in 22. guess if it was available I'd prefer the Texan lss in 22 caliber..
anything else you would recommend, I am trying to stay with a simple gun and it seems like the Condor.. but I'd like to hear from you..
also what ammo is good? I like the jsb monster redesign jumbo pellets and definitely want to try the beasts.. NSA slugs look good too..
I'm sure I have a few more questions but I'll start here.. trying to stay away from finicky guns and ones that have a lot of seals waiting to go bad..
also I have watched a lot of long distance shooting and for the most part they are Texans 257+308.. noticable they are the long barrel but no moderator.. and well I want to keep the sound down so I can enjoy it..
so why does everyone I have seen not have any moderator.. the Texan is available in the lss.. does it affect accuracy?
also since it's apparent that I won't be able to get open sights like I want what is a budget varmint scope? 6-24 magnification that I should consider? I don't want illuminated recital or battery, just a good simple scope. and it will likely get a raven scope jack under it.
another question is what is range finding scope? any links for me to read will be greatly appreciated..
for now unless I have missed a gun that would better suit this, I'm thinking the Condor SS 22 is the best for this.. but I keep thinking it needs a 24" barrel instead of 18" and well then it's going to probably be too loud since it's not got the moderator..
again any suggestions or help will be great.. plus if you know if a reasonable price Condor SS 22 used that might be even better.
thank you all
Mark
