My friend got one of these, there just is one problem, i feel it is opening the valve for too long wasting air, though it is reasonable accurate pushing 13 grain slugs.
but sound wise it just sound as if there is a lot of waste air, it actually feel as if the rifle have a recoil, though small of course, but shooting the same speeds with my Two i do not have a feeling of a recoil.

The problem is i think, in .177 the single small hole transfer port, CUZ to get a 13 grain slug up to 970 fps i have to use a regulated pressure of 120 bar, and i shoot my Two with 80 BAR, mind you that do have a dual transferport and a pin probe as standard.

It just feel and sound as if the shots cycle are way too long the DRS is also 49 db where my two are 46 db ( same barrel length same moderator, same ammo )
But i can not go down in regulated pressure and get the speeds i want

Also it is as if no matter what pressure the hammer spring adjuster need to be all the way in to get a flat ish shot string.
Also when i have gotten a fairly flat string,,,,,, well in 20 - 25 shots or so, it is back to looking like a profile picture of a tour de France mountain stage, and i dont get how it can do that, it is not like one end drop, its just like a bigger gap is inserted so i do not feel like the otherwise free floating hammer adjuster is backing out.

As i recall from my Maverick in its stock form ( 600 ) mm it too had a small hole transfer port, but it easy got things up to speed with the factory 90 BAR
Of course that was just pellets back then, i only shot slugs in the Maverick after i upgraded to 700 MM barrel, and besides the 600 MM barrel, well i would not even give it to my worst enemy, i nevet got that to shoot any pellet at speed, well aside for beasts which was like lasers, but any lighter pellet and over 700 FPS and it was bad, under 600 FPS and MRD pellets was lasers but i did not get a FAC rifle to have a glorified blowpipe.

I dont get why FX have gimped the DRS in .177 like this with a single transfer port, and sure as hell not the 700 MM one that come with a heavy liner.

Huh I get what you're saying.
Wonder if one could open that port up and get better results? Maybe oblong the port front to back to get better flow!
Does Huma make an aftermarket one?

Huma, not yet but i hope they will, also them i had to go to with my Maverick back in the day.
Dunno why FX cant just go dual port everything and be done with it.

I have been thinking if you could open it up a bit, but i would hate to do that in hand with a dremel. but regarding O-ringes sealing on the outside of the barrel there do seem to be room for creativity.

I was surprised to see the Maverick specs say 20 fpe max in .177 when the DRS tactical makes 42 fpe in the same caliber . Made no sense to me to convert my .22 Maverick to .177 . I realize you stuck with .177 but I'm not so ill probably just get something that makes more power and not convert my Maverick.

Yes i would so shoot .22 if i could, so many more options.
I would probably also have a even bigger caliber PCP, but then it would just be 1

Smaller calibers do make sense when you are on a limited budget like a pension, and also not forgetting we only have 125 M or so of range, but i am sure a .22 would give me higher and more consistent accuracy within that.
I have seen people shoot .22 pellets at 100 yards as good if not better than i shoot .177 slugs. that is very alluring.

One thing I like about the .177 10gr slugs is that my Vet compact shoots them as well or better than 10.3gr pellets and has excellent expansion at 18fpe . Plus all the benefits of a lower bc with slugs than pellets . I can get dimes at 50y with my Maverick using Hybreds or 17.5gr NSAs but much smaller groups and better consistently with AEA or JTS 25.4gr pellets . So I keep it as a 47 fpe pellet shooter. I don't shoot much at 100y but it was fun when I tried and got around 1.5" with 18gr pellets. I'm sure the 25.4s would group better . Part of the fun , for me, is figuring things out and finding those nuggets.
