Look inside a new hatsan 130s

Richfromohio here,thought someone might like to see what it looks like inside a hatsan 130s. This gun is new I have shot about 30 pellets through it? With 44.75 gr pellets it was around 570 fps and 50.15 gr were 550 fps. These numbers were after the dieseling stopped. I was surprised at the numbers for right out of the box. I have several air rifles and some pcp's. I really enjoy tinkering with my magnum springers because its such a challenge to tune them. Well here are the pictures and if you can please zoom in on them so you can see the problems I found.

I have the 135 Carnivore and the 130QE. They have both been taken down and tuned new seals trigger adjustment etc. The 135 has also been soft bedded. They average 575 fps + or - but very consistent. They are a great rifle especially with a little TLC. Fantastic hunting at 50 yards or less. Two of the best airgun investments I've ever made.

I was expecting a lot worse than that. Compared to a lot of other guns I think it looks okay in there. That piston seal doesn't look to be hurt on the edges where it actually seals. But I may be seeing it wrong in the pic.

I bet relubing it with some good moly would get it shooting nice.

Thanks for sharing the pics, I've never seen inside a Hatsan.

I confess Hatsan appeals for bargain hunting people.

After England and Germany the rest of the countries that mass produce things to make money seem to be uninterested in defective materials and worksmanship.

Always buy Germany and England and forget the rest is my motto. I grew up to learn this a LONG time ago and it still stands today.

If you want an air rifle to LAST and PERFORM the way it is supposed to;

Go England or Germany and FORGET the rest.

Kindly mentioned because inside I boil at the rip off things coming off the market today to frustrate first time users of air rifles. A first time user should start with something that lasts years in his or her life to get to know at the very least. Without "repair" or "replacement" or any "warranty" clause assuring the buyer "it's covered!".

Ha HA!

I guess "Quatro" indicates a four lever trigger system. How does it compare to other triggers, say the Rekord? Are those MIM components steel (magnetic)? More complex than one would expect given the relatively low cost.

The “Quattro” trigger is a very good four lever trigger. The problem is that Hatsan is playing it safe by installing the adjustment screws to short. They are a 3mm screw and easily obtained at a hardware store. They need to be about 1/8 of an inch longer to get the trigger very comparable to the Rekord. Just remove the factory screws and get longer ones, then cut them down about 3/16 longer (to allow the rounding and polishing) and round out the ends, polish and reinstall. On my 95’s I have the triggers to about a pound. One even less. On the 135’s “ because they are so powerful” about a bit under 2 pounds. I also dismantled them and polished all contact points, lubed and reassembled. That really didn’t make much difference though. The longer screws are the whole trick to a great trigger. There is even a sight window in the trigger housing to see the sear engagement just like the Rekord has. So most of the adjusting can be done out of the gun.

By the way I just discovered that the 135QE Vortex has been discontinued in the U.S. only. Evidently not abroad. They can still be gotten from Krale. Krale had been sold out but now have been restocked. Krale has both the Vortex and Spring models 135QE carnivore.

Man, that is a lot better than the old Walther Talon Mag I sold. Maybe because it was shot so much before I finally tore it down. That sucker was full of slag/swarf and crud. Had the old style opaque off-white piston seal too. If I remember right those seals burned up in the 135. Plus the piston was still in the white.

It sure ain’t perfect but it looks like they have addressed some of those issues.
