Looking around for a new high end scope.

I copy, Glenroiland. I have heard only good about March scopes, which I did not know existed about one month ago. Are there any in the March line that are on the lighter side and parallax down to 10yards? It's remarks such as "does not hold a candle" and the like that keeps intriguing me. Thanks. S7
Most of the March scopes focus down the 10 and some are light weight. The 3-24x52 is a nice scope that is very well respected, but I have not owned one. There is a x42 version as well, but I have heard it is not as nice.

I didn’t go back through the thread after you asked me the direct question earlier… is 10 yard super important? It might change my suggestions in the other post somewhat.

This right here. I have one x42 and it is still fantastic.

See the above response.

What are you looking to do? Hunt, paper punching, plink, compete? What distances??

My complaint with the parallax is it's not marked with numbrs....just a graduated "triangle" shape..

Okay, I missed what you said: March has scopes that parallax down to 10 yards, and some are light. I went to the site and caught this data firsthand just now.
March also has some scopes that have huge magnification, and are still light. That surprised me a bit.
To answer you question, I pest in short distances (under 40 yards or so) and punch paper a bit. The missing numbers don’t bother me, I think, as I tend to simply eye my parallax with scopes that do have numbers. Thanks. S7

Yes. Most of their offerings focus down to 10 yards. The only reason it bugs me a little that they aren't marked with numbers is on some of my other scopes I can use the parallax as a rough range finder for my holdover/under. Otherwise they are fantastic scopes

My March scope is stellar.

I have been VERY fortunate with all my vortex. The one problem I did have was a shifting POI, and turns our I crushed it the tube overtihhtening and vortex happily replaced it FREE for me because if their VIP warrantee. Can't recommend them enough. I have over 6 vortex on airguns and firearms. Not top tier by any means, but clear as heck, bright, no aberration at "normal" hunting/pesting/plinking airgun distances.

Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50 FFP

From LibertyOptics in ID. The owner has sales occasionally, so the actual list price varies.

It is more than your price point..I thought the same thing..but I waited and saved..then splurged..with no regrets.

Relatively small..(13.3") and light..(20oz). And a great reticle.

It's going to perfect on my new RTI :)
I have been looking at this line for about two weeks now. S7

It is tough not being around others. I was like that for many years.

At that price range or actually cheaper for nearly the same optics… my first thoughts are Athlon Ares BTR or Midas Tac. Haven’t tried the Midas Tac in 5-25, but like the 6-24 a lot! Never tried the 5-25 because it was so much more expensive. The Arken 5-25 has them beat on price and I don’t think is any less scope. Specs you are looking for really start to differentiate them besides price.

If I were going to spend $800 though, and quality mattered most, I might would suggest picking up the Ares ETR used instead. I don’t like it at the new price though. That being said, I would still probably choose the Midas Tac or Arken and save money. Then I would only pay up to jump to a used Cronus Gen 1 or BTR Gen 1 for around $900.
Thanks, Smok3y.
One of these days soon I would like to get either the Midas TAC or the Ares. I have probably heard as much about Athlon on different threads as any brand at the price points they offer. I asked previously but don’t know I got an answer: What is the difference between the Ares BTR and ETR, quality-wise? S7

Yes, that stinking 10 yards is important to me. I only shoot very modestly, but a good deal of it is close. Thanks. S7

The ETR has upgraded glass and I can’t beginto guess how the internals might be upgraded. It is 34 vs 30 as well and is much beefier. It is an upgrade, but personally not an upgrade I would pay for again.

The Midas Tac 6-24 is the only one of those that focuses down to 10 yards also.

While they are a bit weighty, Tract scopes are well made and have a great warranty (like most others). I currently have 3 of the Toric line, all the same, MRAD 4 x 20 x 50, FFP. Focus to 25 yards on highest power, focus at lower power is around 15 yards. It has a tree reticle that I really like for quick hold overs.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but thought that I would at least letcha know since you seem to be diving really deeply into getting the right scope to suit your need.

Yes! I am still getting acquainted with their line. But I instantly like the abundance of 10-yard parallax and light weight. Now ‘all’ I am dealing with is the price tags.
One other thing…
@JungleShooter is an amazing resource here who has taken time to make many scope tables with tons of specs including focus distance, price, weight, etc. search for his handle and find one of those tables. He has made several over the years focusing on different aspects. Seems like some of his threads have had links to several tables at once.

Thanks. We've chatted a bit in the past. He's a good guy to converse with. I will check this out. S7
