Looking for a good pocket chrony

Hey all,

I'm looking for a portable small pocket chrony. I'm leaning towards the FX v2 chrony at the moment so when I go hunting for small game, I can do a quick FPS check and see if the FPS dropped in Minnesota's cold weather. If the FPS did drop, I can update my ballistics calculator. So here are some of my questions below.

Any other good pocket chrony to consider?

Is FX the overall best pocket chrony? What are the good and bad?

What are the differences in the FX v1 and v2?

How far do I have to shoot for the FX chrony to capture the pellet/slug? (I believe the FX capture the pellet/slug FPS differently than my Coldwell)

The FX is what you want, the V1 takes batteries and the V2 is rechargeable. You can rubber band it to your barrel and shoot. Maybe 10 foot to the target is minimum.

What rifle are you shooting? FX will shoot faster in the cold, the regulator piston will contract and let more pressure through. I would assume other regulators of similar design would do the same.

I have a wildcat mk3 bt .30 and a Panthera hunter compact In .22. From what I know the Wildcat is stock and the Panthera HC has a huma regulator. Both still new to me.

Interesting that you say they will shoot faster… I thought the cold will drop the pressure and cause lower fps and a change in POI.

It does shoot slower, my usual temps for hunting iguanas. Is anywhere between 80 and a 100° and the times that I've shot in 45 to 60° weather. Using any FX air guns, the velocity has dropped.

I still use an fx v1 chrony, but change out rechargeable batteries, it still works just fine.

Athlon is has come out with a really sweet one, it’s half the price of the garmin.

Looks good but I will have to wait and see reviews. I am wondering how i would rubber band it to the barrel/moderator Since I won’t have a table in the field. I don’t want to lay down either.

No joke man..
want something while deciding? It works, take the clamp off and rubber band it to the barrel.
