Looking for a good quality .177 cleaning rod

you want something that has good bearings in the handle so that it turns with the grooves.
I do not recommend cabon fiber ...the solvents and other chemicals used on the bore will weaken the bond in the carbon fiber wrap and cause it to shread.
a coated steel rod is better.
the good rods are kinda pricey, but do a much better job than a non-rotating rod
Bore Stix and Montana are excellent.
the .117 usually has a smaller head size..so be wary when ordering mops and brushes
These come in LONG boxes...I'd wait til after the holidays to order...long, thin boxes are easily damaged during this time

Having gotten new cleaning patches that did not work with my old 3 mm CF rod ( 1 patch too loose and 2 patches impossible to insert )
I got 2 new 4 mm CF rods from a local hobby store ( 1 M long ) and they work perfect with 1 of the new cleaning patches.

Cut the rod down to 800 mm length.

Dont really use solvents in my barrels.

It's nice but having the metal end kinda defeats the purpose ?

Ijdk.. I do know in my life I never see one made . Lots of close but no cigar ones ..🤤
You mean the brass? That's softer than the barrel you're shooting the projectiles out of, and you can coat that or even shrink wrap it if it causes concerns. For me I get cleaning rods for polishing barrels, otherwise I used the patchworm they make them in .177 as well. Crownsaver is okay, but doesn't work nearly as good.

Gotcha, I like the ballistol rope as it has 3 balls spaced about 10" and 3 contacts points is better than one for me. I usually just need to do 1 pull with it and I'm good to go

I also use metal wools as well for more scrubbing. Like brass ,copper bronze what's handy ..lol ( oiled / solvent .. never dry)

Tipton carbon fiber rods get pretty good marks:

I purchased a Pro Shot stainless steel rod because I wanted something fairly rigid for bore lapping.
Tipton carbon fiber rods are good, I love them. But..... Don't get rough pushing one through with a particularly tight patch on a particularly bad bore, too much force and crack. Don't worry, I'm talking huge amount of force when i cracked one of mine, lots of the rod still outside of gun, bends with massive force. The really good thing about that, I called tipton, told them what I did exactly, and they sent me a new one free, after telling me don't do that again. No registered warranty, no receipt, nothing but my word on the phone and the whole phone call barely took longer than typing this. Love my tipton rods.
