Looking for a healthier lead alternative ammo choice for indoor .357

Just from the look of it there is no expansion at all, the grooves from the barrel seems to just move metal around and accuracy hasn’t really been affected but it’s postal at 20 feet and I’m not an Olympian shooter. I’m used the same handful of pellets for almost an hour now or about 7-8 times through the barrel. I might be onto something, at least for my cheap a$$. LOL



I’ll do a full write up about the setup I’m tinkering with more, I’m looking for an old but really soft pillow so the impact is as quiet as possible.

I think CTShooter has talked about shooting into some sort of ballistic fabric if you want to go though the Replies Created tab in his profile.

don't think ballistic fabric is necessary for 2.6 FPE! for those who has the balls to shoot at much higher power then that probably is better but I find that too dangerous. For crying out loud paper doesn’t take much to kill, what’s the published FPE required to kill standard 40lb printer paper? 0.1 FPE?  


I think I found my cheap a$& setup pretty adequate, in fact I think it works quite well. I’m actually tired from shooting and I’ve been using the same handful of pellets this entire time. They have gone through the barrel at least a dozen times if not 20 times by now I have seriously lost track. I still can get a good group going if I do my part. I’ve hand pumped my 1701 4 times? Each fill gets 40-50 shots? I don’t know, all I know is it’s a lot! I’m happily tired! Total cost had been basically $0! 


this little project turned out to be more fun than I expected, when the rain comes I’ll sit in my garage all day shooting even when I’m on my conference calls! might also graduate to some very small item plinking, non metal of course. the best is no lead and I can eat potato chips while I do this! This is opening up a whole new world hahaha
