Looking for a Neighborhood friendly Silencer for the Huben GK1 .25

Looks like I have a project to start this weekend - I’m a mod freak always looking for the ultimate device to silence my crew of GKs (Standard, Shorty and Super Shorty) and I have a few lined up to test with my db meter.

I tried my latest purchase yesterday - the Buck Rail modular can (1.2” tapered) and to my ear, it’s close to the quietest I’ve tried but my ears might be deceiving me so it bears some work to see. I ran it on my Super Shorty and was pretty pleased.

My “backyard” is a home in a small suburban neighborhood with sensitive ears around me, not urban, so YMMV if my experience would work for your situation.

I’ll post today with some meter readings for various cans I have at hand and you can judge for your own situation.

Stay tuned.

Here’s a breakdown of what I have to test:

I’ll start with two Buck Rail modular cans today and see how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
Thanks for any help on the moderators, I have a Donnyfl Tanto and my GK1 is still not backyard friendly, looking forward to your final choice.

I run it in “carbine” setup, so the huge moderator is not a very big issue. But this mod50 is the only thing that was able to silence the gk1.

Hi guys - I’m gonna start my own thread to cover this project, it will take some time for me to put the numbers together.

What I can say is that what is backyard friendly to me is going to be different than what you might perceive. Looking @PCPFanNL post above, I’m 100% sure that a mod50 goes well beyond what is needed to tame any of my 3 GK1s. I can say that definitively before I event collect readings.

My first mod for my first GK was a Donny Ryu, and that was plenty backyard friendly to my ears.

So, YMMV with any moderator there’s going to be people denying the readings.

That said, if there had been data on current offerings, it would have saved me hundreds.

So I’ll continue testing and see where it gets me.

dmenzeer, Contact John @ New England air guns, we made some moderators for him that will take the GK1 to mouse fart even at full power.
Ask him for the Veradium Air moderator. You can add or remove the baffle cans as you wish. I use on my gk1.

May we have details such as physical length/diameter? And 'mouse fart' even at the full 80+ ft/lbs power? How many sections and length on that?

Thanks.

The gk1 is not designed nor do the specs call for 80fpe in that pistol. Do folks push it to that point yes, but at a risk.
We have tested our moderator to 50FPE in the GK1 and the shorty GK1 w 33.95g, that in our shop is max power for the GK1. I do beleive the manual states 45joules is the range out on the GK1. I have not tested the moderator on the GK1 to 80fpe nor will we.
We have had several gk1 pistols in the shop to replace the sear catch arm and the trigger arm due to folks pushing the limit, just a word of caution.
Have we tuned airguns beyond factory, yes, but we take the time to replace or improve on any parts we think will not handle the new specs.
We use this moderator for our Taurus which produces 360fpe in .357 with no issues albiet at that level provides a 60% reduction in muzzle sound.
Thank you folks
