Looking for a quiet 25 cal???

So I have a large bore gun but am in search of a quiet 25 cal gun for back yard pests. I’m looking heavily at the Hatsan Bullboss as midway USA has them on sale for $399.!!! Id considered adding a Donny FL to it to quiet it up. But was wondering if there’s something better. 


I’d like some member suggestions on any other guns that might be quieter or have a better trigger in the $4-$600 range. I put my real money into my pitbull air gun so I’m not able to afford an FX yet. Whatcha got for suggestions guys? Thanks in advance!

Hatsan and Kral guns are loud. If you want quiet, I’d suggest marauder 25 cal with mod.

Thanks I had one in 22 and with the mod it was a huge long gun. I’d like something in a Bullpup configuration

I have many Hatsans in different shapes and forms and one KRAL Puncher Breaker Silent Marine bullpup in 22. The KRAL is most definitely the better brand. I can imagine the 25 caliber version would be night and day better than a Bullboss. Add a HW or a Huggett silencer and an adapter. Mines barely backyard friendly without an added on silencer and I slid mine out to extend it. YO!

Coolest useful thing about the KRAL it has an Air Arms style easy to use power adjuster and mine in 22 shoots consistent enough it doesn't need an added on regulator. YO!

Thanks for the reply’s YO. I had looked at that gun as well. I can get one for $499 with a free scope ring and a ton of pellets. How do I remove the shroud? Would I be able to add a Donny FL on the Puncher Breaker Silent Synthetic Sidelever Gun? Forgive me but I don’t know a lot about those guns.

Benjamin Marauder in .25 is the gold standard for quiet. Great trigger, easily tunable and can be inexpensive if found used in the classifieds.

The shroud unscrews but you leave it and remove the shroud endcap screw on the silencer added onto the shroud with a threaded adaptor. I had several 25 Marauder and as others suggested if you find a used one in a bullpup stock at a good price that would be good too. YO.

If you can wait or save some more $$$ maybe you can find a used gen1 FX Bobcat that would be an excellent 25 kinda short gun I would think they would sell for $700-$800 being the old gen1s and they're regulated mine never gave me any issues whatsoever and I wouldn't sell it neither my 30 caliber version and other calibers I have and I like them better than my Wildcats. They are a step up in rank based on the proven reliable Royale action which is a step up compared to the Wildcat which is FXs entry level bullpup. I Sold all my 25 caliber Marauders after getting my 25 gen1 Bobcat. YO!

Great gun , but for same reason I did not mention taipan. The OP ‘s target was about 600 bucks.

Airforce TalonP + Neil Clague moderator. Since OP didn't mention fpe requirements, I went with the most powerful option and the one that is the quietest as well.

Backyard friendly up to 70fpe with Neil Clague moderator.

At 40/50fpe it's so quiet I've shot it out of den window inside house into backyard, and no one realized what was going on.

Yo your the man. You do have a great point about watching the classifieds. And I’m all set with Airforce guns, the triggers are absolutely the worst I’ve seen. I sold my Texan SS because of it. Too bad the triggers suck so bad, and my SS was still really loud.

I had a Bullboss and an AT44. The Bullboss trigger is horrible, AT44 not so bad. I now have a Dreamline I picked up used, there is a difference. Check the used sections Air guns of Arizona and other retailers . I have seen Streamlines is the $600 range

My bullboss .25 came in at 92 db at 46 ft lbs of energy.

.25 grains in the low 900's not very loud.

My brother sells 3d printed baffles that quieter it to 86db.

Really quiet now currently I removed the qe for the compactness.Still it's not loud in my opinion.

The Bullboss .25 is an excellent value.
