I bought a Sightron 5x20x50 off Dvor yesterday for 333.00.Don't want to start a firestorm, but I have been looking for a scope for days and I need help. I have searched until my eyes are gone and my back is killing me. I'm picky so here's my want list:
I know that's a lot to ask for. I love some of the lower end Leupolds but the're fixed parallax or they have Minimum Parallax-Free Distance (yd)=35 or greater. They may be OK but that's where I'm fuzzy. Any advice would be great!
- Lightweight (16-23 ounces)
- 16x or greater (my old eyes need it!)
- Side focus
- parallax adjustment down to 15 yards
- good clear glass
- 1/4 MOA turrets
- MOA or Mil dot like reticle
- and finally, under $500 if possible.
EPL4 is FFP and I'm not sure I would be able to see the reticle at lower power. I seriously considered it but I couldn't make the jump.Arken EPL4 would be my first choice
Element Helix my second choice
Ime not many other scopes are anywhere close at under $500.
One of the reviews convinced me I can do better:I just pulled the trigger on a Sightron S-TAC 4-20x50 UPC: 793139260154 at Amazon. $130 cheaper than anywhere else. Hope I don't get burned since I put so many hours into researching!!!!!
Update: I sent it back. The more I looked through it next to scopes that cost less than half as much, the more disappointing the glass quality was on this one (although again, this one tracks perfect, and the lower end scopes do not). As much as there was to recommend it (and there was plenty), I just couldn't see keeping a scope I couldn't use over about 14x zoom.
