Looking for good dovetail to picatinny mounts

I'd look at amazon under 'dovetail to picatinny' I think I just got like 12 pages (i'm sure some is duplicative). I was looking real fast to see if could find what I have but didn't. Some are pretty low profile, mine are 8" long, 5/8ths deep. Also the BKL stuff is nice, just higher profile than I was looking for. PA has a bunch too under- Accessories/Mounts/Adapters.



The utg 'snap in' has worked well for me but if your high powered rifle has picatinny rails already, seems like it would be a pain to swap the adapters in and out.

The UTG snap-in ones I just got seem pretty cheap. If there are better ones out there I'd gladly pay a bit more. They're working for now but I don't know how repeatable they will be.

I will be using QR rings so I can swap the X-Sight quickly between my SL and high powered rifle.

My first impression of those UTG snap-ins was similar to yours. But in use, they're the bees knees. Are you having a problem with them in use? They're a bit "fiddly", but once you lock them down they hold. As for repeatability in switching your ATN back and forth between guns, you're still going to have to test your zero no matter what else you use instead of those snap-ins. 

If you actually find something better that doesn't raise the scope height, I'd be interested to know what it is, although I'm perfectly satisfied with these UTG snap-ins.

I've been using these one piece (no separate clamp plate) Universal mounts from UTG this year along with cheap Weaver Quad Lock rings from WallyMart. The adapter clamps on the receiver dovetails similar to the expensive (relatively) BKL one piece mounts, however the UTG adapter also includes recoil stop pins. Before using the UTG adapter I've had issues with the BKL one piece mount slipping, even with the base screws were torqued to 40 in/lbs (5 in/lbs over the BKL max recommended torque).

The adapter cost about $15 and the Weaver Quad Locks bought from WallyMart cost about $10 so the combination only set me back about $25 total. The setup is "rock solid" on both my HW95 and R9. The adapter plus High Weaver Quad Lock rings place my scopes with 50mm objectives at just about the perfect height above the R9 and HW95 receivers. I wish Weaver offered the Quad Lock rings for a 30mm scope tube, however they're only available for 1" tubes.

As a side note, the yellow tape in front of the Weaver Quad lock ring was placed to see if the scope would shift using only 10 in/lbs of top strap screw torque and the scope didn't shift after a bunch of shots but I still added two more in/lbs of torque anyway. 12 in/lbs of torque is still less than the 15 in/lbs of torque used with the "BKL one piece" mount that allowed the scope to shift unless I lined the BKL rings with cloth electrical friction tape.

I'd check with Amazon first to see if anything is available. You may have to buy one of those longer rail pieces and have someone machine it/cut it in two to be able to span your magazine on the SL.

I never thought of that. I'll most likely go this route if the UTG snap-ins end up not working well for me. They held up just fine last night and today. The next day off I have will be spent at the range getting both the X-Sight and Athlon scope mounted and zeroed on the high-powered rifle. Then swap the X-Sight onto the Streamline and get it all set up.

Last night and today I just used the scope rings that came with the X-Sight. They feel and appear cheap, but ended up working well enough.

The BKL adapters are nice. I tried their scope rings once and was impressed by them. Too bad they are so tall, but I understand it is due to their design.

I have the BKL on my prod. They are tall but so is the mag. They have worked great for me with the utg quick release rings. I for 3 years have switch my photon nv and daytime scope with minimal poa shift. I say minimal as I always check and if they need adjustment It is little. My friend might get a marauder and I’m going to recommend the snap in’s but also say to drill a small hole or divot in the reciever as one review said on amazon. 

I hand pump and one shot is like two pumps atleast so now I use an add on nv setup. I get the atn is great and my new nv I wound not want to use for powder burners but I love not switching. You could say I’m over it. Still can’t sell my prod with the photon attached but hopefully I won’t need it. 

Let us know what you get and how it works. Still can’t believe you got rid of your wildcat. I read this after watching your range video... it was awesome, a laser beam.

Just recived the BKL dove to pic adaptors, lines up the scope with eye sight real nice.

i have not had any use for this type of conversion, but if i remember correctly BKL makes top of the line products in this area.

Putting the BKL adaptors on my Texan with high rings really put the scope in a better position then just using tall rings, I’m going to order another set for my Texan 45, now I don’t need to tilt my head so much, but now I need to re zero and will see how adding that extra 1/2 inch to scope height will effect everything, other then that I don’t know where else I’d use them either.
