Looking for honest opinions about fx dreamline

I am looking to finally purchase my "dream" gun ... but I'd like to get some honest feedback if I'm making the right choices. This is going to be a one and done deal so I want to make sure I am getting the best I can for my budget. I need to keep it under $2k for everything, including having the optic mounted as helen keller could mount a scope better than I ever could.

I made a public wishlist on utah airguns of what I'm looking at buying:

Fx Dreamline Tactical, .25 with the factory tube and the hogue furniture.
Fx Dreamline Power Plenum
Fx No Limit Scope Mounts
Hawke Vantage IR 6-24x50
Max Grip Knurled Side Lever Handle For FX Airguns

All in with the optic mounted/zeroed, their free tune, the hard case and shipping my total comes to: $1,685.93

Can I do better?

Secondary goal: flex as hard as possible at the monthly air rifle matches at the guntry club I'm a member of.

I had a Dreamline Lite in .25cal and sold it. Should have kept it. Great airgun and shot great. I have 4 FX airguns, and I've almost pulled the trigger on the Dreamline Tactical several times. By the way, you don't need to buy a power plenum on the new ones as it is already installed from the factory. Be careful buying used one that doesn't have the power plenum, dual transfer port and superior liner already installed from the factory as you will be wasting your money, and cost about $170 to add to the gun. The Dreamline has been around for a while, so FX has upgraded them.

Thank you for the info! ... I had no idea about the power plenum. I'm not even considering a used/refurb rifle ... if I'm getting my "holy grail" it's going to look, feel, and smell new. :)

I've had mine for a couple of years now. I won't part with it. Mine is in .177 and it is an outstanding performer. I started out looking at an Impact and ended up liking the Dreamtac better on a price/feature level. It has a pretty good range of adjustment and I've found it to be quite repeatable and predictable within its limits.
I think you've made a pretty good deal. Its a solid gun for the money - maybe FX's best value right now.

I have a Dreamline Classic and a Dream-Tac Compact. Both have butter smooth side lever actions, very precise triggers and are very accurate. The Classic was originally purchased in .25 to get the larger air cylinder and longer 600 mm barrel. I have since added a .22 barrel to the collection. The Deam-Tac Compact is my Lego gun. I have both short [320mm/380mm] and long [500mm] barrels in .177, .22 and .25 and just purchashed the FX Arrow Kit from the classified that will be used with it also. I have 3 air cylinders, the original 170cc, a small 300cc CF bottle and a 480cc CF bottle. It also has the folding stock, so configurations are pretty wide depending on how I feel. It's simple to work on and very easy to swap calibers and bottles depending upon my needs.

I also have an FX Crown and had an FX Maverick. I sold the Maverick and still have the Crown, but the action of the Dream series makes the others feel stiff and clunky. I'd definately recommend any of the dream line series.

I've got a dreamline lite compact bottle.. with the 177, 22 and 25 barrels. Cocking is smooth, trigger is nice, crisp and very predictable. Finish is great... I think the lite has a cheap looking but stock... It's rubberized and looks better in person.. but still...! Now for the barrels.. every single one is very accurate.. but I'm a 22 guy so that barrel stays on. Being a compact it's not a powerhouse (I didn't expect it to be) it a very nice pack around light, small game/pest hunter.. shoulders nicely. With any dreamline (compact, full size, bullpup) expect a nice tame mid powered shooter... If your looking for impact performance/power... Save a bit more and get the impact... Maverick... Wildcat...

I have a 22 cal dreamtac compact. It will never leave my arsenal. It just plain shoots! No hassles, just accurate, repeatable, and easy to shoot. I currently have it apart converting it to a 500mm 25cal to see what it can do. They are very versatile, and in my opinion, the unsung hero of the FX lineup. I’ll be sad when they discontinue the lineup now the panthera is out.

I’ve had mine for just over a year now. Ordered the .22 GRS version and have since put the .177 barrel on it. I‘ve been shooting springers for awhile and decided to blow the dust off the Dreamline tonight. Forgot smooth the action is And the trigger is much better than my impact.

Shot this tonight before dinner.

I have a Dreamline Tact .177 with a CF bottle. One thing I noticed that stood out to me about the Dreamline is the long travel cocking lever. It's very different than the wildcat, impact, and maverick. Just giving more information. The cocking effort is super smooth and light; the trigger is very nice, and its not that hard to tune/change.

I put a fairly inexpensive scope on mine. A Centra 4-16x44 FFP. Works fine for my shooting, but the nice part about a scope is that you can put another on it whenever you want. For me, getting the gun and optics within budget was more important than spending another $4-500 on "good" optics. That would have put the gun beyond my reach financially, at the time. As it turns out, I made a pretty good buy all around.

The Dreamline is an excellent rifle. Very accurate, less design complexity vs. other FX rifles.

Are you absolutely set on .25 caliber?
Will you shoot pellets only or are you considering slugs?

Some thoughts:

The air tubes are longer on the .25 & .30 Dreamlines vs. the .22 and .177.

This makes it “easy” to add a .30 to your .25, but more difficult to add a 500mm .22 or .177 - if you intend to use a moderator.

Will you be hand pumping or using a compressor? If .25 caliber, you will want a compressor - have you factored into your budget?

What is your intended target distance(s) at your club? If 75 yards and less, you might want to consider .22 for higher shot count with tube…

Will you only shoot at your club or also in your yard? Is noise suppression (moderator) required for either club or yard?

If Utah is “building” your rifle, you could get the longer tube .25 rifle but have them install a 600mm .22 liner instead of the .25. Then you could shoot .22 25g MRDs for 75 yards+ and still be able to detune to shoot 15.89s very efficiently at shorter distances.

I have all calibers… .177 .22 .25 and .30. Just my opinion but I think .22 is the most “flexible” caliber - with more pellet choices and better air efficiency than .25.
