I read a post about sighting your gun in for the apex of trajectory and now can’t find it. I’ve had no success with searching for it. Anyone have a clue?

I recall reading and maybe posting in it as well. Might be in the optics or pellet sections. I use the two zero method most of the time and allow mine to rise a bit above apex to gain a bit more "dead on" range (MPBR), dependent on the size of the target. I've been eliminating some problem squirrels with an HW100 shooting AA 7.33 Falcons with 1/2 inch rise above LOS and that has proven efficient on squirrel head shots out to just beyond 40 yards.

I'm taking it for granted you're not using a ballistic calculator.......i don't have much faith in some of them anyway. You can do the following without knowing the speed, weight of pellet, etc.
This is the easiest method to find your apex.
Start by zeroing your gun at 20 yards.
Every 5 yards after, put up a target.
At 25 yards, shoot at a mark on paper....can be a dot, target, whatever. If the pellet goes higher, rezero.
Go to 30, same as above.
Keep doing this until the next distance is either the same, or a touch lower. Do not rezero. This is your apex.

I am assuming that the targets have to be at the same exact height, the bullseye for instance, for this to work? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

You only have to shoot at the same target. So move it after every shot or two being sure to use the same poa. The target being a few feet up or down won't matter for such short distances. Though likely it will only be a few inches. Of course if you're shooting in a field of craters an overhead pully system may be preferable.

Based on my experience, you are very near an apex zero. My Veteran is sighted in for an apex zero, shooting an 18 gr pellet at 900 fps. It is about a quarter inch low at 20, near dead on at 25-35, about 3/8" inch low at 40, about an inch at 45, and 1.5" at 50. But, you really need to shoot at each distance, since a very small adjustment at 20 yards, can be significant at 50.

Thanks, @john_in_MA. I just figured since we are measuring how far the pellet is still rising, or how much it has fallen, to determine the apex that height would matter. Since we're only looking for a slight rise/fall it seems a height difference of several inches for the POA on the target could meaningful for the results.
