HW/Weihrauch looking for the best to tuner my HW80

its a .22 "long range hunter" model, it is 100% a hunting gun i would like 18-21fpe
It depends on your gun, but 18 fpe should be pretty easy and 19 attainable. Hitting 20 will depend on the gun and the shot cycle can get harsh. Over 20 - often possible but I wouldn't shoot for it, no pun intended.
I have a gold trigger era R1 that was tuned to be my hunting gun - it gets in the low 19's with an ok shot cycle. Cocking effort is what you'd expect. I also have a Huntington Beach era R1 that David Slade tuned and it easily makes 20 fpe even though that one wasn't being tuned for power.

The spring is broken
i had a feeling it was

so after 500-1000 shots it was producing 18-19fpe and it is the smoothest shooting gun i own(dont own any mid power high end guns), do you have any suggestions for tune kits?

Pull the gun apart. They are the easiest guns there are to work on. With some common sense. If Your anything handy
Many videos on you tube.

OR , your gonna pay a kit dropper to do exactly the same and promise you special greases and DEBURE and honing AND SUCH. ANY ONE WHO PROMISES A VELOCITY ON A GUN THEY HAVEN'T TOUCHED IS FARTING IN THE WIND. THE GUN TELLS YOU WHAT IT WILL DO. NO TWO ARE EVER THE SAME. There are people who will do a full rebuild of the gun with buttons or rings. But a Vortek kit done right will keep every thing centered well … with the kit get a new style cocking shoe this will get you where you need.. MAKE SURE IT IS NEW SLIDE STYLE FOR HW 80 And not the 95.

it has developed a heavy twang and a crunch feeling at the end of compression
Sounds like a broken spring .

Theres 2 others for the 80 as well

Remember to jeep the spring oiled up.
I shot my R1 250,000 times before I replaced the spring.
Why?
Just because.
I had a rebuild kit that I had bought when it was new and never used it.
The spring on TX#1 was replaced at 65,000 shots because it was wearing out.
It was not broken.
Oil the springs just Iike the valve springs in your automobile and they will last forever.

Ive got this spring in one of mine and It’s generating good power but it’s a bit snappier than others I’ve built. It’s actually right on the verge of being to much spring unless you have a good snug pellet to bore fit.

Here is a very easy cocking build , it’s gonna be easy to cock and get you a good 17 to 19 ft lbs depending on your barrel and cylinder. It’s in the sweet spot for .22 Hw 80. So many people get set on velocity , ft lbs. 750/775 is the most accurate speed to be at for power ratio.
(12 ft lb snipers ,I apologize, 🤲 I know you can drop A rino at 70 yards and it’s “SHOT PLACEMENT” but the extra ft lbs makes up for us normal non Predator laser beam aim mis hits).
site it in 1/4 high at 25 your good to 40 usually 1/4 low same crosshairs With H&N Ftt

I dm surprised theres just not a sprind option like hhe drop in hornet for the others like the 80 .

As a side note also check if that 80 has the new cocking shoe and not hhe old scraping anc crackling when cocking ..

I have guns with tens of thousands of shots on their springs and no broken springs. Most of the factory springs are replaced with Maccari aftermarket kits. I use light coating of tar on spring and moly around sides of piston seal. This keeps the gun from dieseling which I believe causes much of the broken spring issues. Also, correctly fitting spring guides probably help as well. But, some people just have seriously bad luck and seem to break springs every other week.
