Looking to get into pcp

I once purchased one and then cancelled the order the next morning. So I guess I like the looks of it too.

However, I wouldn't purchase a non-regulated rifle in 22/25 caliber now. Maybe big bore hunting rifles is fine. But I'd rather have an Air Venturi Avenger wood stock. I'd rather have a regulated AEA Challenger 22/25 too. Both would also save you a few hundred $ you can put towards a better compressor and optics.

Do you understand what a regulator is and what advantages it provides in terms of consistent shooting?

100% agree with this. I was in OP's shoes a couple of months ago. I bought a .22 unregulated Marauder. It's a GREAT gun. I will probably add a regulator to it, or sell it. But once you add in the costs of doing so, you can buy a higher end used gun. I was impatient with the 10/10 rule and had a new Marauder in my hands with 5 or 6 days left in my waiting period.

My 5 guns were all less than $500 each but they still cost a whole lot more than my YH/expired SCBA tank/fill set. Even if you add in the two hand pumps and every extra I've bought for the YH the guns are still more than twice as much as the air to fill them.

Cheapest air is a Chinese hand pump for about $70. I have one, it works, it just isn't fun to me. But if I was on a budget and especially if I only had the Prod, I would hand pump.

A little portable compressor, which I do not have, is probably the next level of cost. I think you can get a servicable one for around $300. They can run off 12V power from a vehicle or a portable tool battery so they are quite portable.

That is also about what a YH cost but I think you need to spend a bit on good oil and for an extra air dryer so cost is probably more like $400-500 all set up. It could also be a total solution except you need a source of 15A of 120V power. So it is not easily portable if you need air away from home. I have a Milwaukee power supply that I've used to run my YH but it weighs 50 lbs so the YH + power supply would be pretty heavy.

A SCBA tank adds convenience and portability but also additional cost.

It seems to me that the easiest way to get into serious money for the air is to buy a nicer compressor. It is easily possible to spend thousands. But for one person, I think a YH is a totally viable "solution". Some seem to be very satisfied with a much smaller portable compressor. Some have also hand pumped for years. Air just doesn't have to be your biggest cost unless that is what you want to do.

I bought my dreamline dreampup used for 700$ here. It's one of my favorite guns to shoot. Its accurate with cheap pellets and cycles smoothly. I would suggest buying a better used gun for the price of the marauder. You can really come up in quality buying used. A little bit more money and you can get a daystate revere. I doubt you would find any problem with that gun. I'm a fan of the 400$ and under guns though. They're usually pretty good shooters but you're also might get a lemon and have to send it back. Luckily my dozen 400 and less guns have all been trouble free. I do shoot them how they come. No tinkering except maybe some hammer spring adjustment and I think that has been what saves me from hassles.

"Rapid fire" posts usually indicate someone who's main interest is accessing classifieds. There's SO much more to be gained here by becoming involved.
This is so damn valid.
Im a new member and anxiously awaiting the 10 post 10 day rule to pass so I can utilize the classifieds; but when I have a question its already been answered 10 times in the forums. Seems pointless to post questions when yall have already answered them in detail.
