Looking to stir the pot….

Until four years ago the only pellet rifle I owned was my model 34 in .177, I've since bought a Diana 350 in .22 a Benjamin Marauder in .22 and recently I purchased a Beeman R9 in 22 cal. In my personal experience the .22's have much more authority on small game which is what I mostly use my rifles for other than casual plinking and although my model 34 shoots somewhat flatter than my .22's, it's not by a large margin. You can find .22 pellets just about as easy as .177 and for me at least, I'd rather have that extra ooomph of the .22 The only thing that would stear me away from a 20 cal is finding ammo.

When in doubt, just get your favorite gun in both calibers. Last month I got a .22 HW50S to go with my .177 model.

And My latest completed .177/.22 caliber pair-

I feel like 20 cal should be the most popular. But it just isn't. I don't own one. But if the ammo selection was there and if you could even buy guns in that caliber, I think most of mine would be .20
Hey Long_Gun,
Not to give your a hard time, but the lack of ammo selection in .20 caliber is a False statement.
I can Guarantee you the JSB 13.73/15.89 or the H&N 11.42 will work for any Weihrauch, Diana or Sheridan.

Motorhead won all his Field Target championships using the JSB 13.72 and that's what Hector Medina uses too for international competition.

Well, comparatively, the sheer # of available 22 projectiles is borderline stupifying. That and most if not all of my 22s shoot cphp's either quite good or very well. I'm sure I'll get a 20 cal someday. Just not anytime soon. Got 9 airguns. Honestly don't feel comfortable getting anymore. I'm sure one day I'll have better space, more storage, more time to shoot, more room to shoot. But that day is not today or tomorrow.
