Crosman Lothar Walther barrel for Crosman 1377 - worth it?

Friend showd me the Crosman custom shop. Looking at a newer 1377 pump pistol & they do modifications there.

Is it worth getting the Lothar Walther barrel over the Crosman barrels? I know LW has a great reputation, but is it actually going to be better in accuracy than the Crosman custom shop barrels?

Then there are two steel breech options. Other than the size - any advantage of one over the other?

The crosman page doesn't have much in the way of explanations on this.
 
I bought a 1300kt with the Walther barrel from the custom shop in 2020.

That one wore itself out and became part of my parts bin. The barrel ended up on a 2240 with a 1701 trigger group….A 1741?

With the improved trigger group I get very good accuracy.

I have 5 Crosman products, all have Walther except one. That one isn’t close in accuracy compared to the others.

Once I am off “Restriction,” I will buy a Walther barrel for that gun too.

Your mileage may vary.

I have a .177 LW barrel on two guns. A Marauder and a 1701P. Without a doubt, they are far better than anything Crosman makes. I took a chance on a Crosman barrel for my 1377 (which had been wiped clean by the previous owner using BBs) and was thoroughly disgusted by what I received. If you can get the LW, you will be happier if a little lighter in the wallet.

Just bought a 1322 and got the 18in crosman barrel. Accuracy is meh. I heard somewhere that crosman barrels are a little loose so I took a .217 slug and dropped it in the barrel to see for myself and it rattled its way halfway down the barrel before getting stuck. .218 slug did the same. I got a .219 slug from AVS slugs and that one didn't fall down the barrel. The 10 inch barrel that came with the gun was the same. Also the crown on both barrels was not concentric to the bore. I would go with the LW

They will never take the time to finish the barrels.
My 362 barrel mashes pellets when chambered and the crown was done in the dark without tools.

I ordered a disco barrel and it’s a little better.
It’s cost driven. They won’t take the time to finish barrels.

But doing so would build them a good reputation. Executives will never understand that as they only can see the now.

Besides, it’s all about full auto BB stuff.

Do you need to do any machining to get the disco barrel in the 362?

22 Crosman barrels can shoot ok, but only with pellets that have 5.56mm head sizes and not 5.50-5.52mm like the majority of pellets on the market. Huben K1 Altaros slugs work ok-ish too.
A LW barrel would always be better of couse.

I know. I just spent a couple hundred bucks making a 1322 into a 12+fpe gun hoping it would make a nice little squirrel getter and it is just not quite there in the accuracy department. Now I'm not in a position to spend any more money so I'll probably urinate away several hours in labor polishing the rifling and cutting a new crown only to realize down the road that I should have just spent the money on a LW barrel

You can order them from crosman for about $50 if they're in stock.

All right here its goes. I have a Crosman 2300S LW barrel, Crosman 2289 CB and just ordered and received a 1300KT Custom with a 18"CB. At 15-25 yards I can't honestly say which is better. I've never shot them further than 25 yards. I wouldn't considered myself an excellent marksman so maybe in the hands of a more proficient marksman the story might be different :unsure:
