FX Low Power Tuning Advice for .30 cal FX Wildcat MK3

Hello fine people of Airgun Nation,

Need advice on setting up a good tune for low power on my .30 FX Wildcat MK3.

Current tune is set-up with settings below:

Barrel Length: 600mm
Hammer Weight: 13gram
Rear regulator: 120bar
Front Regulator: 160bar
Power wheel at Max setting
Results: 44.75 grain JSBs at 895fps (ES of 15fps) producing approximately 78-79 FPE

I want to shoot the 44.75 grain around 700-720 fps so I turned the power wheel down to 3. After doing so I shot a string of 13 pellets and I got a high of 721fps and a low of 675. This ES of 46 is obviously not ideal and I want to tighten this up but not sure what I need to do.

Should I reduce my front and rear regulator pressure? If yes, where should I start pressure wise? What about the hammer weight? I understand because its a .30 cal, FX shipped it with a 13 gram hammer for high power but to shoot as lower speeds, do I need to get a lighter hammer?

Any tips and advice are welcome.

Thanks!

Yeah you are on the right track. I would chase down a 25Cal hammer weight, its about 11g and will give you the range you want. You might also need the longer spring to match it since the 30Cal models are shipped with a shorter spring and 13g weight. I think Utah Air is your best bet to finding the correct factory parts now that FX USA is gone.

Just the hammer swap might be enough to get your fps goal but you might also need to lower the regs a bit. The heavier hammer wont work well at lower settings as you found out already. I would swap the 25Cal hammer weight and spring and set the regs to about 140/110 and tune from there.
