Other Low powered .25?

I'm getting this crazy idea to setup a low powered .25 gun. I'm thinking around 650 FPS for a 25.39gr pellet for around 25 FPE. This will be used for close range pesting within 15 to 20 meters. I'm not sure which gun yet but I'm thinking of putting a red dot on it instead of a scope to keep it as lightweight as possible. I also have a DNT Thermnight that I can use on it if I ever find myself with some night ratting opportunities.

I was initially thinking of a spring airgun and using iron sights but I've been bitten by a springer's sensitivities before (TX200). I know they can be very accurate "if I do my part" but most of the time, I'm just not willing to bend over backwards for it. I just don't like missing shots when I'm shooting at animals. Although I love the traditional looks of a gun like the HW95, I think I want to go with a PCP for this low powered setup.

Too bad springers ae out. Reading just the sunject line I would have said (like any good airgunner would spend your money on a ...) RWS48 .25.
A friend had one, smoothest dead thunk cycle of any 48/52/56 I ever tried. Would drop a ground hog (Marmot) instantly at 20m and at that range most .25's will work with a wad cutter and that is a critter whacker! Good fun can water filled cans, spinners & such also.
Post up whatever you get.

My buddy runs my old FX Wildcat tube version at that level in 25Cal and it is very quiet and very effective for squirrels and rats. But you also have a lot of options at lower power levels since many of the budget 25Cals are in that range. Snowpeak P35 or Stoeger XM1 series are good options, so is the BSA Buccaneer if you can find one.

I used my P35-25 at 32 fpe for a year using H&N FTT 20 grain pellets. I took 18 squirrels with it tuned this way. Very effective and the bare gun was only 5 lbs. If you would consider a 22 there is a "Pinty" pcp that appears to be a very inexpensive P35. There is a thread on it. Squirrels seem to react to higher powered 22s (like 32 fpe) about the same as 25s at the same power level. This is a regulated gun. Regulator is internal but I can change it in about 15 minutes.

I bought a BSA Buccaneer in 25 cal a few years back. It would shoot a 25 gr pellet at around 700 fps. I killed everything up to racoon size game easily with it out to 50 yds. I'm not sure if it is made anymore but the Gamo Coyote is the same rifle. For springers I have a Beeman Kodiac 25 that is a real thumper. I have not shot a RWS 48 in 25 but have owned several in 22 and they are a very nice rifle especially with aperture sights.

I’ve already been producing these .25 barn guns and field tested for 5 years now. Guys are buying them for multiple uses because the power range goes from 400 ft./s to 700 ft./s.. They are even a hit down in Florida for iguana hunting. Read the specs. M&M Guide Services use these for their customers to shoot.

The newest version of the Jet2 in .25 would fit the bill on a budget. I have the Jet1 in .25 I customized, 20 fpe. I also have a 2240 converted to HPA and a .25 LW barrel shooting at 14 fpe. but could be tuned down for closer ranges. the larger pellet has less chance of punching through walls etc. Cant find pics of the Bandit and 2240 .25 ATM LOL.
Diana Bandit Kit is another fair priced option if you can find a .25 conversion kit.

Low cost regulated ideas that I could think of:

The Kratos has power adjust.
Not sure how it actually performs, but in theory it's cool.

The Hartsan RC guns are pretty easy to adjust and can be had cheap too

Maybe a Gunner, on sale (not familiar)

I appreciate the ability to power down or up

Or maybe just find an older, underpowered classic off the buy& sell. I've seen many that have caught my eye, but Im just window shopping

You sound disappointed with the gun? You got the unregulated version?
I am disappointed. It was bought on a whim as an unregulated gun. After shooting and watching speeds start
very low climb 140 fps then fall to starting point I got a Huma regulator. I’ve had that gun apart dozens of times
testing various pressures and hammer settings. For now I have settled on 135 bar on reg which gives me
11 shots from 818 to 809 fps with JSB 25.39s.

Did you change the hammer spring to something lighter? When you put a regulator in an unregulated gun, you need a new lighter hammer spring. Otherwise the stock hammer spring will strike the valve too hard causing the low shot count you're seeing.

As far as I know for the 25 caliber it inherent that is has low shot count.
People are often warned not to buy the 25, I was but already had ordered and
let it go through.
Mushroom do you have specific knowledge of this gun ?
Im asking cause I for the time being I gave up on it.
It is my out the window annoying animal gun solely.

My airforce gun gets ~ 20 fpe if I swap the air tank for a CO2 tank, and is accurate well past my backyard. It could be tuned for such power on air, but it is single shot.
The Seneca Aspen (Nova Freedom) multi-pump-multi-shot is around 15fpe on Low and 30 on High, but that could be tuned up or down a little. It is a repeater and very accurate past 20 yards.
For either at short distance I might prefer a lighter weight diabolo pellet that won't travel so far: max range for a 25gr diabolo at 25fpe is over 500 yards, but a 20gr is under 350. If I could find roundballs in .25 they wouldn't fly much past 200 yards, but could still hit hard at 20.
