Lucky? group-R9 30 yards

Just pulled out R9, shot a group offhand- nothing special. Decided try one at 30 yards from the bench resting on my open palm on a support. Must have been luck- the following group was so so. 5 shots

22 cal H&N FTT. I haven't been shooting my springers much lately which so I was extra happy with my group. Naturally things went back to normal afterwards...

Nice thing about springers is you can have only 50 yards to shoot and spend the rest of your shooting life getting better and making measurable progress.

Yup, good quality break barrels are capable of fine accuracy.

Nice group from the OP. But I'm confused. You said off hand and then said "from the bench resting on my open palm on a support". To me off hand is standing, unsupported, no rest, no bench, nothing but the shooter and rifle.
Either way, very nice shooting. My R9 belonged to my father and is set up just as he left it. I had it tuned to smooth it out and get rid of the buzz and now it's a very sweet and smooth shooter.
