Tuning LW .22 custom slug barrel for FX Impact

Hi All,

So I am going to have a custom LW barrel made for one of my Impacts....I decided to go .22 and was wondering if anyone had some insight into what OD is best for the Impact...

Length will be 23.82 but OD options are .39, .47, .59, .63, .67

I was told Pamona Airguns is a good place to go through for the machining but if anyone on the forum has the experience and desire to take it on please let me know!

Will an unchoked LW 24 inch barrel shoot .22 slugs better than the slug liner or Superior/Heavy liner in an Impact?? I am not sure but will be fun finding out!

I am sure it has been done by a bunch of folks on the forum so any advice etc. would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Happy New Year All!!

Kinda what I figured also Glem.....Got the barrel blank ordered so we shall see.

Bio- I have had good luck with the FX slug liners/Superior liners for slug shooting (I am still a pellet shooter for the most part) but figured it was worth a few hundred bucks to see what results I may get....I would bet the LW may shoot heavier lead better but will be a wash for anything 30 grains or less.

Thanks James!

I ordered a new RTI Prophet Performance from Talon Tunes last week in .25 which has a 1:17.7 CZ barrel and supposedly it is a great slug shooter. I also ordered the LW long range pellet barrel in .22 that shoots the 25.4 Redesigns at 1000 FPS incredibly well (Won EBR 50 and 75 I was told.....Even with disqualification for shooting the wrong target at 75 that is still impressive)!!!

My DayState HP RW .22 shoots them at 940 BUT in any wind it causes the pellet to destabilize and of course groups look like a shot gun blast...
