Correct me if I'm wrong. You guys use slugs for hunting right? For general shooting whether close or long range, why not stick to pellets? I've tried slugs in all my guns and they shoot ok, but not match grade.

For me it's a fun new aspect, I like the idea of making my own and getting them to shoot well. Of course pellets get the job done well and as accurate till maybe 100m in my experience, some swaged slugs can still be accurate past 200m. Some long range hunters appreciate that. For me pellets would get the job just fine and I shoot both. I just see the allure of slugs and enjoy shooting them.

There are many reasons. Better llong range accuracy for both hunting and enjoyment in target shooting.

I cast both slugs and pellets for the RS II with a custom L/W barrel, u-choked, in .25 and .257. The barrel is double carbon fiber twill wrapped, and threaded into the receiver. with a new harmonics dampener I have a handful of people testing .



Add this to the fact that I have my own range at home, and recover most of my lead, it is far cheaper than buying pellets. In fact now that I have a nice selection of molds, it is virtually free. LOL 



The accuracy is very good. However, the Custom Talon/Dor is fa-nominal. Well under 1/2 inch at 100 yards with its favorite bullet. Sadly, it isn't a hunting bullet as it is a solid spire point.



The RanchDog from NOE, and hp'd by Eric at Hollow Point Mold Services is nearly as accurate and deadly on vermin.

I have become increasingly interested in fitting a .177 LW barrel on my Impact to shoot the 15.5 gr. NSA slugs. The .177 has become my favorite plinking and pesting caliber, but the wind is a serious issue past 25 yds.



The BC of the 15.5 gr NSA slugs is approximately 5x higher than the BC of the 10.34 gr JSB Exacts. Wind will always be the enemy of .177, but this will mitigate a lot of the issue.



With the plethora of high-end Ruger 10/22 barrels, accessories, and platform options it is THE ideal candidate for a company to create an airgun that uses 10/22 components to fire .22LR lead projectiles.



I am the not an engineer, but it seems completely do-able.
