M10 x 1 Fittings

I have brought a few stainless steel female connector with M10x1 thread from China directly but I am not sure if they are really more secure. They look to be very well made and certainly stronger than brass but the balls do not stick out as much as those in the brass version ( also Chinese made , M10x1 ).

My measurements of the ball-edge-to-ball-edge distance of the female connector are :

Brass : 6.7 mm

Stainless steel : 7.0 mm

That means the stainless steel version eats less into the groove of the male connector potentially making it less secure

This is not the end of the story. I have made some measurement on the diameter of the Chinese-made male connector ( M10x1 thread ) as well. All are made of stainless steel. The diameter various from 8.0 mm to 7.9 mm. The larger the diameter, the more the grip hence more secure.

Any combination of male and female can be snapped together. It's just not sure how secure the connection is. Base on these measurements, there are two combinations that can be considered :

(a) 8 mm stainless male + brass female ( 6.7 mm inter-ball distance ) : more grip but softer material

(b) 8 mm stainless male + stainless female ( 7.0mm inter-ball distance ) : less grip but stronger material

I am still pondering which one to use .
