m3 .25 700m ..barrel tensioner yes or no?

Depends on what you use your pcp for and how gently you handle it. For us we had to add the FX CF Sleeves and some kind of tensioner to prevent poi shifts. No improvement in accuracy but pretty much eliminated the poi shifting issue we were experiencing in the handful of FX pcps we have. The shorter 500mm barrels have been better with just the CF Sleeve but sometimes still move around and need to re-zero before hunting. I keep meaning to add a small spacer to my Compact to help the shroud stay still but havent got around to doing it yet.

I am shooting mostly pellets ..going to try some slugs start out lite first the go up in grain wt. is the tensioner any help at all for accuracy...harmonic shroud instead..just curious on thoughts
Wanna see something cool. Why not both? It has to be machined, not bought.... . Till fx figures out how to put a threaded tailcap on the cf and charge for the idea.

You can make a little spacer ring that the shroud pushes up against the action with and effectively tension that way without spending a bunch of money. That's what I was doing till i had to buy the tensioner like a drug addict. The real deal isnt much better than a spacer collar. Carbon liner sleeve, Carbon tensioner, carbon harmonic shroud (cuts noise down better than the aluminum shroud).

Makes 700mm gun more front heavy and annoying, especially with a ronin. If you aren't pushing power levels, try just the collar, it can be made pretty easily and for pennies. Make sure it's ends are parallel or it can poi shift you.

Tldr. Just get the harmonic shroud and make a poor mans tensioner collar. Not much more is needed for the pellet envelope Imho.

can you take picture of ring you made or used? kindy lost alittle.....but I do understand ...I got everything you are showing...and looks great!
The back cap is epoxied to the carbon fiber. I put the whole thing in a lathe and used a boring bar to increase the bore on the cap and then machined an o-ring journal into it. Pic is a cap for an aluminum shroud that I did for somebody. This is no ez mod for a home-gamer, also unless you're shooting top power level for caliber slugs the tensioner is pretty pointless imo when a spacer collar worked just as good or slightly better for me previously up to 28 grain slugs above 1k fps. A tensioner spacer collar you might be able to make at home with some creativity and decent tools if you don't own a lathe, but i dont recommend it if you needed this much info because it's likely to shift your poi if not accurate enough. Pvc conduit would even work because I made a bunch out of delrin I gave away.

Best bang for the buck, spacer and the harmonic tuner you buy on its own. Tiny adjustments.

How does yours shoot as is? Unless you are shooting in competition and want to squeeze the last bit of accuracy out of your gun, I wouldn't waste the money. It may or may not work.
The shroud does a good chunk of the noise moderation too. The tensioner and a donny ronin was too loud for me but with both I have the quietest gun of my group and the highest power level(that I never use) . I wouldn't buy the tensioner again if I had it to do over.

Fx knows we are addicts and they exploit that fact. Be careful, half the stuff I bought made little difference and made the gun front heavy.

OMG are you right! rabbit hole city!! gun shoots better with half that crap off!!! I have daystate delta wolf, and fx m3 ..and have been in pcp for about 7years and have the crap or 60% does nothing!!! polish parts find good pellets slow the speed down dont grab barrel and your hole in hole dam near at 50yrds....
The little tiny spacer I keep mentioning helped tighten my 100yd+ groups more than anything. Fx can't bill for that easily. If you're handy and have tools and some patience you can even get pellet probes to be competetive with slug probes other than seating depth.

For certain people (like me). The tensioner helps if you soft case or travel with your gun a lot and you are less than careful about banging a 700mm barrel around. But again.... The spacer worked too. I may turn a few and see if people want them, or want to try them. I also found the violence of the tungsten hammer to be group opening. It doesn't slap as loud as the stainless factory 22 one, but it did open groups about 0.125 @ 100.

Right now my gun is set up with .25 cal m3 700m barrel, I polished the front valve stuff ..that made my standard dev within 5 , I have tensioner system also have carbon harmonic tuner but not on gun took off seemed to shoot better groups when i removed ? maybe was just me or tune ?..barrel did not move poi when grabbed which I should not do anyway, have slug prob kit with heavy hammer tungsten, and I have heavy slug barrel.....so with all that said I should mostly pellets! but ready to slowly dip into slugs? .25 jsb I shoot at 890-910 ...33 at 910-920 maybe a little to fast ? so give me your opinion on with all I got how would you set up gun........wow that could be a deep question? my spelling and grammer is poop, oh well I am 65 and it Anit getting any better.

Our guns sound primarily identical, but mine is 22. The oddity I encountered with the slug liner is that mine would NOT shoot pellets worth a darn except for the heavy monsters (25 equivalent king heavy) which it shot quite well.

I might suggest trying some 25-36 grain slugs and see if it likes them. I know my m3 22 shot 31 grain Nielsons waay better after all the changes with the tensioner

do you tune with harmonic balencer or do you use it just for supression on barrel tenisoner , I think that is what you are saying about ring you made, can you show me where how it is on gun...but dont do that if it opens up for re-tune, messing with it causes re-tune I got that...man thanks for chatting and helping....I live In Arkansas , but was born and raised in San Joaquin valley Hanford Ca

I do use the balancer to bring groups in tighter, and the shroud helps quiet it. If your tune is pretty good now there won't be a need for a retune but you may have to re zero after the poi change. I don't have a ton of pictures but basically make the hole in the back of the shroud big enough to go over the tensioner with an oring or 2 in it. You need a lathe or somebody who has one.
