FX M3 .25 pellet / slug probe

I want to shoot pellets and start to get into slugs ……other then stock probe what be middle of road setup for both? Which way would you keep barrel ? Pellet side or slug……what’s a good probe ..pin..hammer weight a little change? Middle of the road setup…if that makes any sense.

thanks
You can use either. The big benefit to the slug probe is adjusting seat depth. The pellet probe is easier. Use that till you need the last 7 fps.

Edit: since nobody else has chimed in. At one point I had to test stock pellet probe, vs huma high flow clone vs slug probe. The slug probe is marginally better but comes with its own feeding quirks and sensitivity to cocked slugs in the magazine. Port matching a pellet probe to the barrel slug transfer makes for the nicest blend of shoot-ability and flow but does not allow you to adjust seat depth.

The change was worth a couple fps, which used to matter to me, but owning a gun I can turn up as much as I want the extra couple fps were not a good use of time or resources for me.

I did take the pellet probe and put it in the mill, cut a bigger window, chamfered and "buffed" everything with an impregnated synthetic wheel like I was porting an engine.

You have your options, i hope you have fun experimenting with it.

Yep rabbit hole can be deep, the set up I was going to do was ….dual port barrel side , pin probe so I have some fiddling adjustment, and the huma hammer at 7grams , a little help but not going over board>…….what you all think?
I too run slug port and pin probe. If you are going to go thru the hassle of putting a hammer in it, i might recommend just doing the tungsten hammer. I'm running tungsten hammer at 140 bar and can achieve 40-73 ft lbs depending on the other 3 adjustments with no reg changes. Mind you im set up for 22. Once you start chasing power, it exponentially runs away on you.... Me. 😂

My stock (slug transfer port)M3 will easily shoot the 36gr NSA or H&N HP II 970 to 980 fps.

If you want or need more power, the pin probe and FX tungsten hammer weight will get a 40gr H&N heavy going well over 980 fps.

Just the hammer alone ought to do it id think. 25 is nearly magical in it's efficiency for me. My findings were less that 25 fps with any probe variations. In my setup and caliber. Luckily these aren't spendy mods to play with.

When I try and use my huma high flow pellet \ slug probe which I like better then a probe, it hangs up a little on the barrel port and is not smooth ? I would rather push pellets or slugs in with a probe vs a pin they go in easier ….I like smooth……got to figure out what to polish to get it to go in smooth
I'm not sure if the probe or projectile is your issue, it sounds the same as my pin probe and might be projectile falling into transfer port. Mag star wheel collisions can be a thing too.
