FX M3 first reg rebuild necessary?

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on my M3 because the behaviour of my first reg on my M3 looks weird.

I start at 150 bar on the first reg and 109-111 on the second.
When shooting the first reg overshoot to 165 bar and then settles again on 150 bar.
The second reg resets pretty fast and keeps at 109-111.

Is this normal behaviour?
Or is my first reg in need of a rebuild????
After how many shots do you rebuild a reg?

regards JP

Can you just take out the piston and its ok?
Thats what I did sd went way down. The m4 dumped the first reg and Utah has been doing that for a while.
If you dissect the first reg, can you still use 300bar?
I personally would not go to 300 bar which I never did anyway but it’s your gun. I go to 250

I spent an entire day trying to return my buddy's impact m3 .25 and the first reg was doing the same thing yours is doing. I. took out his first regulator, replaced it with the delete plug and tuning it has been a breeze. It's back to normal now, before it wouldn't even want to shoot pellets of any weight at any speed or reg setting. I also deleted the 1st reg off my new to me m3.

How big of a PIA is that first reg to get out for the delete ? I’ve seen videos where it looks like it’s whacked in there with an impact tool.
The one on my buddies required a wrench and hammer/mallet to loosen it open. Mine didn't take much effort. I have a feeling FX adds a hefty amount of green loctite, or atleast that's what it felt like on my friends gun lol.

And you guys trying to get the whole thing out just remove the piston. I screwed my bottle on and off everything works like normal just no first reg. I was going to get the delete kit but a porch pirate stole it so I’m just using how it is
Solo1, did you remove the set screw and/or the piston from the original reg housing?
Did anybody experience any downsides after removing the first reg?

I don’t recall the set screw you mentioned but I did remove the piston, it was a little while ago. I haven’t had any trouble since I fact it is shooting better. I believe this is why the m4 doesn’t have a first reg it was junk

Ok I have an update.
Looks like the gauge for my second reg was faulty (maybe from the begining)
Last week it went from 110 bar to 80bar => WTF (btw I set the reg when i got the M3 to 110, found it to be a good setting for the 34gr in this forum).
Just to be sure what the actual pressure was I ordered a digital gauge to check what's going on and before it arrived I was stuck at 0 bar.
Still under waranty so a new one is in the mail.

But now I receive my digital sekhmet gauge before the new wika and installed it => it reads 150 bar ?? never touched the reg from the first change to 110??
I think now I know why my gun was so hard to tune in the past and why the first reg set at 150 was having these weird jumps.
degassed and reset the reg pressure and now my first reg gauge is behaving as i would expect.
My m3 also is a lot quieter now and more accurate (better harmonics i assume)
Now I just need to look at a little creep on the second reg (4-5 bar over night)

I'm also putting a digital gauge on my maverick I think ;)
