So I started tuning my Mk II today (since I had the day off
) (Sadly, my wife didn't, but I think shell be happy I did the hard work)
For starters (Don't tell my wife, But this was not hard at all), I got my chronograph, opened up my laptop, and put on some youtube videos. Today was actually my lucky day, FX made a video on youtube about the Quick tuner; with very few adjustments, I got a consistent speed of 900 on my .30 sniper. (ill share the Ernest video on the bottom)
My front reg was set from the factory at 150, and my understanding basically leave the front reg alone, so I did. The rear one was at 100.
The Macro wheel I had moved back and forth trying to see what it felt like, and I forgot where it was when it was right out of the box, so I did a quick call to FX USA their Customer service told me for the .30 Sniper to put the big wheel on 16 and the micro tuner on 3. That gave me a shot of 870. I turned my rear reg to 110 ( I dont know if it was on 100 on purpose or what, but I added some more air in there, opened that valve (?) up. I also bumped up from 3 to roughly 3 1/2 on the micro tune and got speeds consistent with 900. I haven't zeroed my scope yet, so I may keep it shooting around 900, or I may bring it slightly down to that three as they suggested.
I'm waiting to zero it with my wife cause I wanted to go over zero procedures with her and let her practice, So ill come back for part 3 and some pics ( I always forget to take pictures ). But man, the speed tuned took all of 2 minutes (including the phone call!) I was able to see where the pellets were on the scope (Super high, but man, were they all in the same spot.) I was just aiming at a tree in the backyard, and the goal was just the speeds. It would have probably taken another 2 minutes just to zero the scope. (I may have to adjust my scope a little down; I just remembered when I was typing this they added 20 MOA, probably makes sense why it's high)
Btw the gun felt great; I didn't shoot too many shots with it in my shoulder cause I was just watching the speeds and the tune ( I have a clear backyard, dont have to aim in to be safe). The cheek rest and buttstock were nice and comfortable, I just ordered some more bipods, but I actually had it on a sandbag which worked great. (Old military trick, haha) The overall sound was not loud at all, granted, I am outside in an open area, but this thing is quiet, like super quiet I bet if I lived in a neighborhood, I would be able to shoot (with a suitable backstop), and no one would have any idea. The trigger I did adjust a little bit, which was by far the coolest thing, I know that sounds nerdy, but I had never done that before. Again since I wasn't paying attention to the target, I can't tell if it helped my shooting, but it just felt amazing. It makes the gun feel very personal, LOL. The shot consistency with FPS was pretty spot on. I know with the Mk II, sometimes I would get a couple of drops or raise in FPS, mainly depending on how fast I was shooting. This gun is highly consistent; I also didn't feel I had to wait for that consistency; I did a speed round, and it was just 900 900 900 900. I was shooting probably about as fast as you could read that, LOL.
LMK if you guys have any questions or tips with the M3! I'll keep you updated on the progress so far.
