M3 regulator question

I have a less than 1 month old M3 that’s losing fps on the first few shots as many others. Also the bottle pressure matches the first regulator pressure once it reaches the same pressure point, is this normal behavior or is my regulator dismalfunctioning and I should return it to PA? Also, I was thinking contemplating on swapping the Fx regulators for Huma regulators since it’s a straight forward install. Thought??

Regarding your regulators yes they would match once the bottle pressure gets down to that of the first reg.
For example if your bottle is at 250 bar and your first reg is set to 150, that reg is knocking the 250 down to 150 hence reading 150.
If the bottle pressure is 150 or below that is all the pressure that can reach the first reg, so 140 bar in the bottle will only get to 140 bar on the first reg so they'll read the same.

agree with the above.

as for the slow fps on fist shots,
have you tuned the gun?

or are you just shooting it out of the box?
I have shot it out the box and recently tuned 15.89 hades for 930fps first shots are after sitting about 10-15min 870ish and climbs until back to 930. Factory settings were 130b first reg and 95b second reg and on 16/3 valve just past 4th line fine was slinging hades at 960+
All I did was turn wheel down to 8 and was shooting 900-910fps. I chronied again to verify a few days and noticed a 70fps drop and thought my tune was outta wack or not stable so I dialed in the hades to the above settings as mentioned. Went out again and same issue with the first shots being off by almost 100fps🫨

Thank you! And so I’m good to shoot down to second regulator pressure of 105b?

I wouldn't. Too close to going under. I'd shoot down to around the first reg. My first reg is 150, second 110, I have gone to 140 on the first with no issues but you are inviting problems shooting under second reg and the accuracy of your gauges isn't always spot on. Leave room for error.

Most regulators will exhibit creep unless you polish the surfaces yourself, rarely do they perform flawlessly, hence why for a short time FX toyed with the idea of two regulators, this isn't a generalization but rather a hard truth.

FX's balanced valve system is also susceptible to break out friction...one reason they have a lift limiter built in that users can adjust.

There are people that have polished the surfaces for the balanced valve extremely well to help mitigate, but reality is, you need to really fine tune the gun to minimize this effect, the FX's are capable of tuning out most of it as they provide users with all the needed adjustments.

Your pressure should match once it equalizes, that is not abnormal.

new regs need time to break in.

BUT,

if you were shooting 960+ fps,
and all you did was back the hammer off to get your lower speeds,
but left it at the same reg pressure,
you now have too little hammer spring pressure for your reg setting.

the speed dropping when the reg creeps up makes me think this,
when the pressure goes up,
the spring has an even more difficult time popping the valve open.

the m3 likes balance for consistency,

each reg pressure will have its own personal favorite hammer spring tension.

for whatever reg pressure you choose,
start with the valve adjuster out past the 4th line.

1.increase the hammer till velocity stops rising.

2. slowly back the hammer off till velocity drops 10-15fps.

3. then slowly turn in the valve adjuster till it drops 5-10fps more.

4. shoot nice groups with your tuned m3 lol.
