FX M3 STD Liner 22cal 36gr Slugs Surprise

Well..... i usually run 22cal .218" 27.5 or 28.5gr NSA Slugs at around 1040-1060fps with fantastic results.
I am using the STD liner . I have previously tried NSA 31.5gr and they were OK, but not brilliant. I was under the impression that circa 33gr was the upper limit of the STD liner for stability.

Well......Today i thought what the hell and tried some H&N 36gr .218" ...... What a surprise !!! Not only did they stabilise , straight off the bat they are circa 7/8 moa at 1020fps.......Christ was i shocked.

What is the max weight others have successfully used in the STD liner??

Did some more testing today..
Settled on 1040fps for the H&N 36gr slugs and they are holding below moa at 100yds..

Will try some 200-300yd groups tomorrow IF the weather conditions permit.

Again...this is with the STD FX liner ( 700mm)

Had to wait a few days, but today was a near perfect Winters day... this evening shot these H&N 36gr slugs @ 300yds .... one mag of 28 on the plate ....they perform very very well.
Plate is circa 6" diameter..

100yd groups also.....they hold sub moa..

Just wondering what length barrel and gun setting you are using to get those results ? You have a great place to shoot best I can do is 200 yds max

Front reg is 200bar...Rear reg 145bar.

200Bar? Do you have a Huma High Pressure front reg?

No....STD FX front reg. Been at this setting for 1000,s of slugs now...

Curious why do you have it set so high if your final reg is at 145Bar? Max safe setting according to FX and Ernest Rowe (and my own experience) is about 160Bar. The manual shows 170Bar upper max to avoid damage for the M3 Impact. You dont really need that much difference between the two regs, with 20-30Bar being ideal.

From LOTS and LOTS of testing around the 200 bar , or 50/55 bar over Reg 2, has proven to be the most consistent. It has also provided the most consistency in group sizes..

Certainly not saying its right for every application or for someone else , but in my M3 it works extremely well.
