Benjamin M357 anything needed to do to the new gun

Thank y'all for this thread! Found it looking to scope my new pup, got a quick-course in a few overlooked maintenance tips I would have missed:

1. Clean the barrel before you/I run 100 rounds through it!
2. Remove the Zan rounds from my shopping cart.
3. BEWARE OF WATER! I know that with electronics and (camera) optics, I knew to oil, and a water separator is a MUST! I knew about the dangers of water in high pressure air systems, but it looks like it can get pretty serious, really quick, with PCPs. And, at 3000 PSI, I don't want corrosion in my cupped hand. (Mama said water is the devil...)
4. Make sure I bring my M357 as I approach the hole, I don't want any Killer Rabbits sneaking up behind me when I jump down their hole, chasing my next couple PCPs.
5. I have the right air compressor on order.
6. There's a lot more to this sport than initial impressions give!

Bubbatrucking, if you are going to keep hand pumping for now I would suggest a good moisture filter, hand pumping can create a good amount of moisture and you want to avoid getting into an air rirfle. It can quickly lead to damage of internal components. As well make sure to utilize soft lead slugs. Hard lead slugs can damage the barrel. Make sure to check all screws to ensure nothing came loose during shipping. Have fun you are in a good community of folks who are alway s happy to help and welcome to the sport.

@bthurman has been saying this for a long time and backing up his prescription with photos. I recall that there were some naysayers trying to dismiss what he recommended when he mentioned the importance of dry air. @Humdinger is another that has been expressing the importance of compressors providing clean dry air. He advocates (and has been advocating for some time now) for getting a quality compressor for this reason. AOA is just releasing a video on this in late Dec 2024.

I put the barrel supports from Pitbull airguns on mine. I haven't had much of an opportunity to shoot mine much at all. I decided to shoot 156 gr hollow points from pro slugs. I would definitely consider a small compressor and of course a good moisture filter to go with. The nice thing is it fills to 3000 psi which is a lot easier on said compressor IMHO. Good luck with your bulldog and I'm looking forward to hearing about it. And yes we're very quick to help and also help enable you to fall into the rabbit hole lol.
