FX M4 impact issues

Then there would be an Impact M5 to consider…🫣 Why does FX not simply make an Impact G2? Where all the issues of the G1 Impacts up to, an including the M4 are addressed? The G2 Impacts would be simply a platform to build upon, not something to trade “up” from as is the current status. Which devalues all the prior models markedly… The Ghost? BRK got it right, it is simply a solid initial gun. No, M 1, 2, 3, 4 designations necessary…
I agree on alot of your points. But some of these guys are just gun scientist /tinkers and will forever like to fix things or improve on it like a muscle car guy always shaving here or there or something like that

I started with two MKll PP Impacts and continued on with a M3 until I finally built what I wanted. But it was basically a powder burner. I found I didn’t shoot it much because well, I guess mission accomplished. But I will occasionally find a new use for it just to shoot it. Like hanging a feeder at 130 yards and picking mice off it at night. Or long bombing pests when I’m too lazy to stalk them. So like you said the gun was less enjoyable. I figured I better build two other Impacts in two calibers that were more conservative power wise that I can enjoy all aspects of airgun hunting. They are still dialed in for first shot kills way beyond 100, but they really shine for 75 and under hunting. And when I say build, I’m not talking ordering bolt on junk from a dealer and calling it a build.
I'm walking in your footsteps 100 % 😁. It's basically more powerful than what i used to do irresponsibly with cb longs. Bought a light gun to walk and stalk because I realized I was never primarily there to just turn the lights off on something . The impact is artillery from a bench/truck bed but it has a use with my living in California. You can use it on turkey and the lead hunting ammo ban doesn't apply to non firearms.

Careful fellas, if we keep talking about this I might be tempted to revert my impact (mostly) to a pellet shooter and take the billet anchors off. I'm not taking the tungsten hammer out so I guess i will be replacing v-a rubber balls more often.

I know. This seems like chit chat, but for the lurkers there's some nuanced life and financial and texhnical lessons here.

Heres my primary squirrel gun. It’s shoots 30gr slugs but I can flip the switch and have it on pellets. It will do both even better when I have a slightly longer barrel on it but I prefer it in is most compact state.

I don't think with dubber involved with fx that a fully revised and mostly not backwards compatible impact evolution (like the new corvette) is ever going to be in their business model. I see perceived improvements via aftermarket accesorizarion mostly. It's so modular and profitable that I can't see them re designing the impact until it as their "flagship model" is at the bottom of the heap for performance in their lineup. It just keeps hanging in there. I agree with you mostly. The prices people ask for mk2 impacts is pretty high still.

I need you guys here in Tennessee helping my mission to achieve my love for impact again! Or zoom calls with you walking me through this heep of information which is all great knowledge!
You paid for her and she should be simply performing to your satisfaction…😈 Through “performance“ she (your Impact) should earn that love…🙏

Send me a dm any time. I do not claim to know it all or my route to be the best and or only way. I can just relay my experiences from my guns and all my buddies guns I have to work on and give you my honest opinion.

I guess where I differ from some guys is im not wealthy but I don't sell anything off so I'm not afraid to start milling things up when they're brand new to have what I want.

I should've gone 500 or 600.mm too, should've gotten your lower rail like my buddy did on his maverick as well.
Awesome setup.

I think you just need a gun more suitable for your needs. An Impact will always be an Impact. It’s a gun with way more things to go wrong than almost every other gun. This one in the pic developed a first reg leak during the season. But for an Impact guy that kind of issue is par for the course. Just grab another gun until I felt like fixing it. Wound up using my Uragan and RTI for a couple trips to the woods until I felt like rolling up my sleeves.

Sage wisdom here. It's always going to be the reloading bench and the rifle in one platform and that means a ton of orings and a ton of cascading adjustments to confuse solving an issue if you aren't going to go full autist on it.

I wouldnt have it any other way for myself.

600 is definitely handicapped compared to a 700. And a 500 is handicapped compared to a 600. For your use, 700 was your best bet for versatility when searching. As the barrel length decreases, your slug weight parameters shrink.

Your honesty is laudable…🙏 You are fortunate to be able to grab other guns and move along and fix the issue at your leisure. @addison, needs to come to grips with the “fact” as stated by knowledgeable Impact users such as yourself. That you have to be ”willing” to give your Impact “special” attention and, that she, in fact, demands it… High, as opposed to low maintenance girls is all this is…😈

We pushed some power tests on my buddies 500 mavericks and it can keep up close enough if you don't care about air use, within reason for noise. But you nailed why I bought it, and it wouldn't be so bad without the big ronin on there at all, im just preoccupied with quiet at all costs.... Also part of getting 700 mm. So I'm working up a design for a reflex mod to start working on since I like doing 2 hours of lathe projects before I start making sawdust. The threads for the harmonic weight weight be useful to have a harmonic tuning reflex mod.

Yes and that’s why in his other topic before he bought ole Jezebel, I suggested a gun from the cast iron side of this hobby like a Brocock or Eastern European gun. Maybe an AAA. You know.

I might have suggested a dreamline variant after they absolute pleasure of an experience ive had with the one I got. 45 ft lbs and pellets it's perfect for hunting. Zero mods, just a tune and some vinyl camo for fun. It's just a matter of keeping it filled and fed, grab and go to the shop with me every day.

You got a point and the brk line never gave me troubles like the fickled mistress line that is the fx impact line
