Snowpeak M60B 30 cal getting the mods

I decided to go ahead and keep the 30 cal. I ordered one of these upgrade valve kits off ebay.

Paul seems to know his stuff of the platform and has made a few videos of mods and teardown.

This should add 100 fps AND he says it will lower the reg pressure needed by 20-30 BAR which is a huge gain for the big bore. I'm currently running 170 bar and only getting 835 fps with 45 grain.

If this brings me up into the 925 range, I will likely cut the barrel down and go compact dirty thirty. Make some baffles to stick in the shroud and run it at stock length and bottle.

The choke is heavy on this gun and I think that's giving me fits with accuracy. It currently likes only the JTS 45.06 and fx hybrids. I've tried a few NSA slugs and it won't group them even at 40 yards.

If I can get it to shoot 44 grain hybrids in the 850-900 range, I'd be happy. I shoot pellets mostly anyhow.

I'm eager to see what your next build looks like!

Recently returned to shooting with cooler, drier weather, post Hurricane Milton. M60B .35 continues to amaze with FX 81 grain pellets @ 50 yards, not screaming fast but blasts apart sacrificial backstop 2x4s. WM
Have you put it over the chrony yet to see what it's putting out? What's your reg setting at?

Minor update. Received the slug power kit today. Not much time to mess with it, but had to get pics to show off.

The last picture is the porting jig. Pretty smart idea. It slides inside the action and uses the factory set screws to hold it in place, and the stepped pin aligns it. Then you pull the pin and port the transfer passage out and at an angle.

The curled wire goes into the barrel so you have a bit stop when porting the barrel.

Valve has been angle ported and enlarged, lighter spring, and I'm not 100% sure til I remove the stock valve, but I think the poppet has also been modified or changed.

Hopefully I see 925+ fps with a 45 grain after this. The maker claims 100 fps gain @ less pressure. With the small factory port, I can already believe it. I make my 25 cal ports bigger than this factory 30 cal port.

Interesting idea. I'll have to pull mine apart and see what/where the valve passages go.

I do like the guide for porting but the rest looks kinda homemade.
I'm a little underwhelmed by the quality of the valve porting. It could use some polishing. I will hopefully get the work done on the 60 this weekend and find out if it meets the claims or not.

Got the factory valve out and compared the two. Wow!

The spring seat and check valve take up so much room and the spring is super stiff. That all goes bye bye and in goes the conical spring.

Much larger pin and a direct flow one port valve vs the multi port. This new valve seems like it will do the trick.
