Snowpeak M60B 30 cal getting the mods

I lowered the reg to 90 bar and backed the spring out 2 turns from even so the adjuster is sticking out a little bit, but that's okay since the stock is drilled for it.

Still doing 675 with 48s. Should give me 700ish with 45s. I'm going to need a good moderator when I cut this thing down. It's going to BARK.

Everybody gets to make their own choices but I personally don't get a short Zelos or M60B. If you want a shorter lighter gun why not just get a P35 or Bullshark or P35X? I put on an aftermarket plenum and drilled out the passages and my P35-25 is just short of 50 fpe for at least 40 shots. The shot count is helped a lot by the fact that when it falls off the reg the velocity does not go slowly down like regulated guns normally do. It stays within 15 fps of the regulated velocity for at least another 12 shots. It is accurate and reasonably quiet with an in shroud 3D printed moderator. It's about at the same noise level as my P35-22 which is at just over 30 fpe. It has a 450mm barrel. The extra 40mm of a bullshark barrel should give you 10-20 fps. This gun like MKII JSB 34 grain and pushes them 775-810 fps depending on temperature and how much hammer spring I give it. I plan to try a reduced diameter poppet when I have a replacement in-hand.

I just see the Zelos/M60 as a long barrel high capacity magazine airgun. But if you want to shorten the barrel it's your gun. It just seems easier to start with a shorter gun.

The Zelos .25 barrel is accurate as is.
If I were to shorten my Zelos .25, Id be interested in ONLY removing the empty space between the barrel and the shroud.
That would shorten its overall length by aprox. 4", and I imagine would be as easy as simply shortening the shroud.
Using the OEM barrel and simply shortening the shroud, , it would be 4" shorter, louder, and very inexpensive.

What does Firewalker think about this?
Would this be an inexpensive and feasable way to shorten the overall length of the Zelos by 4", without investing in a FX barrel?

What about the length of the tube then? Wouldn't it be sticking out past the shorter shroud? Or are you meaning adding a moderator directly to the barrel?

I didn't have intentions to chop it, but now it appeals to me. I bought the 60 only because I wanted to try 30 caliber since 357 is a tad much for my needs. I've had 2 guns in 357, and it's just too much.

most 30 cal guns are long. This will be 30" max, and I'm going for a mild power build. Think big hole, energy dump.

I just did the valve work to get more efficiency at lower pressure.

Also, a big factor is price. These guns are cheaper than damn near every compact bullpup in its class. Sure the P series are nice, but they are limited in some areas and still need mods done to them to be better. I also don't really like the looks of most pups, or any rear cocking pups.

What's going to be the OAL?
This is still stock barrel length and mod, so 36".

When I cut it down, It will be right at 30". It's also getting a 425cc 250 bar steel bottle off a Kral. That should give me more shots and lose about 8 oz off the front end. I prefer the flat bottom end since the moderator will also be flat. The flat mod end and round CF bottle end doesn't look right to me when they're stacked evenly.

Gotcha, sounds like it's going to work out for ya there!

This thread has really made me think about just cutting the barrel of my G2, so I spoke with Dana from Terminadorindustries.com and tomorrow I'll be sending off my G2 .30 SL to get that barrel cut from 28" to 19" it's supposed to still make around 83fpe for 32ish shots while bringing down that monstrous OAL.

Those things are unbelievably long! I had a gen 1 and it was like 48" or something like that.

Not much to report, but i did order a Koi to put on the shortened barrel. Once that arrives, I will cut the barrel and shroud down and returned.

I did get the oversized cocking handle from c88machining on ebay. He is starting to make some parts for the platform now along side all his notos stuff.

Definitely easier to grab and rack the action now.

Well the 30 went under the knife tonight. Took 6.5" of barrel off, leaving 17.5". Installed a steel 425cc bottle also. This is lighter, same psi rating, and about 3/4" longer than the stock 350cc bottle.

I can feel the weight difference off the front for sure.

It is exactly 30 inches long now with moderator. The adapter is larger than i anticipated and won't fit in the factory shroud. I'm going to try and find a piece of carbon fiber or aluminum to slip over it. 27mm ID and 29mm OD should do the trick and leave me with a 1mm shoulder at the base of the Donny.

I also left the cheek riser off, and will probably lower the scope down on some rings vs the cantilever. I cut the rail for that reason, since the objective bell would hit on low rings.

Did a quick tune on it, and at 110 bar it's hitting 750 fps with 50.15 jsb. Plenty of room to run, but I don't want to stress the moderator.
