I am now the third owner of this rifle. It was originally a 20 fpe Hunter tube gun that the original owner had MAC convert to a 300 cc bottled 12 fpe WFTF rifle. The first owner never shot the gun in this configuration before selling it to a close friend of mine that coaches me in bench rest.
My friend changed the furniture and attachments, converting #192 to bench rest specific and when testing found the gun leaked air and shot worse than a BB gun. Bore scoped the barrel and found it was pitted its entire length. Changed the barrel, fixed the leaks but never tuned the gun because his Thomas bench gun, new MAC -1 bench gun, and Tirrell/Thomas rail gun all showed up thus placing #192 on the back burner.
So early this month we were at the benches when he offered to sell #192 and would help me tune it I if I purchased it. Now I already own 4 of his personalised and tuned guns and all 4 shoot very well so I purchased #192.
This past Sunday I setup the gun on my 2000LP rest and started with JSB 10.34 grain Exact and began working my way down to 7.0 grain Misterkugeln shooting 5 round groups at 25 yards. The second regulator is set at 1450 psi.
The gun shot like crap with groups averaging greater than 1.5 inches EtoE with POI far below POA............until........ I shot the H&N Sport Match Light 7.87 grain wad cutters and for the first time my POI=POA with a 0.612 EtoE. Then I hit pay dirt ......... Misterkugeln 7.0 grain wad cutter - 0.326 CtoC with POI=POA.
Shot the whole test on one fill with final bottle pressure just above 2000 psi and second regulator pressure at 1450 psi.
Will do velocity testing wth these 2 pellets this coming week. If all goes well I may have a Light Varmint 25 meter bench gun.
