Made a moderator for my Gauntlet 2

I machined a few mods for my .25 Gauntlet 2. I removed the shroud and got rid of the plastic air stripper and machined three delrin spacers with o-rings at each end, they are about 3 in. long to stabilize the barrel inside the shroud. I made them as a tight slip fit on the barrel and after positioning, them in place I put a ring of clear fingernail polish on the barrel at each end of the spacers, the polish adds a couple thousands diam. to the barrel which prevents them from moving when removing the shroud, I got rid of the spring and plastic cones and made some aluminum cones to take their place. I made a threaded end cap for the barrel and machined a 6" aluminum moderator from a piece of solid aluminum bar stock and machined some K baffles from solid aluminum. It definitely shoots better than before and it is a lot more quiet now.

Mmmmmm......
shop envy. 🤤
I've got a very small shop here at my home, I've got two lathes, a small milling machine and a mid size milling machine. They are all manual machines, no cnc here....lol I used to be into the rimfire benchrest game, I taught myself how to build rimfire rifles and I built quite a few rifles for others and my own over the years I was into it. I just got sick of the monopoly on the high dollar match ammo that was needed to compete in that game. A person could build the best rifle around but it was worthless without the right ammo for it...:) I sold all of my benchrest rifles and then my son in law got me into the air rifles. I bought this gauntlet just to see if I would like it and now I'm hooked, I'm already looking at a FX Impact....lol

I got to shoot some today on my backyard 50yd. range. I was trying out some different pellets, this gauntlet seems to like the .25 Hades, it's shooting them about 950 - 960 fps. I'm thinking about installing a hammer spring kit to be able to do some fine tuning on it but for a four hundred dollar rifle I'm pretty happy with the accuracy I'm getting out of it....:)

Here's a pic of the rifle and a 8 shot group at 50 yards.
